Hello, don't worry, you can turn it around ! x
Hi Gabster and welcome.
I know where you are and have been there too. After a few years of struggling and wondering why I kept eating rubbish even when I was full, I found that reducing the amount of carbs I consume has changed how my body and brain react.
Moreless has linked you more detailed information but in short form, what was happening, was that the carbs were turning to sugar in my blood which triggers a release of insulin. This converts those sugars into fat but also, although you get 'a rush' from the sugar to start with, you then go the other way and that is where many of our cravings come from.
Any way, look around and try to read as much as possible, ask all the questions you have and come to your own conclusions.
Good luck!
You can only eat what you buy .Write a list and menu plan .After that effort I usually think ok start Monday and forget any past binges .Identify when your times of hunger are .Mine were a definite pattern of after 6pm so I swim or exercise then return to a meal I know is prepped and ready .Planning is worth it then as your body adjusts you do get used to the new eating patten and the food .
All great advice here Gabster84 - it’s tough if you are used to using food for comfort. I have been in that situation for most of my life, it takes emotional strength to love yourself enough to be able to say to yourself “ I need to honour my body”.
I have blips but if you keep coming here for support, you will keep getting back on that wagon and the road to a healthier you.
Good luck 😊
Thanks everyone, feeling really pants at the moment but great reading. I just need to do it and stop over indulging x
Occupy yourself instead of concentrating on food, go out for a walk, take a banana if it is a long walk. Make plans with friends or family that is not food orientated. Just lately I keep telling myself I do not want cakes when we take some round to my daughters for their birthday. Trouble is as we have four grandchildren and they always seem to be having birthdays. We always provide cakes, but as I used to indulge I don't anymore. My daughter helps by providing fruit and salad.
