I am a bit down today because I was doing exceptionally well the past week and a half (I hadn't had any snacks during the day, only eaten my prepared meals) and then I totally overate this weekend :(.
We were at a festival and I started feeling hungry all the time again (I guess it's anxiety-related), I started eating too much at a time and was feeling sick after most meals. I guess I still don't realize that I eat a lot less now and my stomach and body cannot handle the same huge meals as before. It is also the fact that we had a lot of sweets that I don't usually eat, so when I saw them I was really excited to eat as much as I can.
I really wish I could overcome the need to eat so much, do you have any helpful tips for me?

You need to look at things differently, YesICan13. To make progress, we need to learn from our mistakes, make corrections and change direction, if necessary. A bestseller isn't written without a few grammatical errors, or pages that need rewritten, but the finished product is far better than the original.
If you're hungry, it's a sign that you're not eating enough, or you're eating the wrong foods, so you need to address that first.

The problem is, I still haven't mastered the art of knowing when I'm hungry and when I'm stressed/anxious. I gained all this weight from stress-eating, I was never that obsessed with food before that :(. I'm trying to get it under control now by being mindful of how full/hungry I am, but it takes a lot of focus. So when I'm out and about with other people I tend to screw up.
The trick is to have a plan. If you feel hungry and don't know if it's real, wait 5 mins and see if it passes, if it returns, have a glass of water and see if that works.
If you're really hungry, any food will do. If your hunger is stress related, then only cake, biscuits, chocolate, or sweet stuff will hit the spot.
If you resort to the junk food, then you'll also get the sugar high, the insulin spike, then the sugar slump, which will trigger hunger again.
I had to eliminate those foods from my diet and get my hormones back on an even keel, before I could trust my hunger signals again. Maybe you're the same?
You're right. I don't include processed foods and sweets in my daily meal prep, so every time I see junk food it's hard to resist. I adopted some strategies for when I'm at work and everyone around me eats those things, but I guess I don't have a good strategy for when I'm out with friends/travelling etc.
I will work on my ability to resist, your tips are spot-on, thank you! It's true that most of the time I only crave sweets, so it's definitely not hunger.
Gosh this is so true isnt it. Sugar is pure evil. Im weaninh myself off it.. Then my parents visited and left treats for the kids.... So far i have only broken once.
It is, and the short-lived pleasure you get is just not worth the devastating effects afterwards. I literally feel how it hooks me up and makes me crave more for days after I ate just one chocolate bar... You're better off without it, stray strong!
My tip would be to put it behind you and get back to what you were doing before. You will have other blips like this again as it is human nature. Keep moving forward and don’t give up

I agree with what others have said, you need an emergency plan. However, we all have bad days, days when we think what am I doing and then carry on regardless. If it was a nice day out don't let this ruin your nice memories, just move on, your only human, today is another day. Be kind to yourself.
