Limited mobility needs to lose weight !!!!
Hello and welcome to the forum Calamityjan 😊
Yes, me! I have arthritis and my mobility has got worse in the last few years. Weight loss is 90% food and only 10% exercise, (although there are lots of other benfits) Finding an eating plan that works for you, and is sustainable long term is key. Eating enough and of the right type makes it easier, have a look at healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
It makes sense to me to that I need smaller portions and much less of the energy dense sugary snacks and carbohydrates if I’m not moving much 😊

Hi, Calamityjan , Welcome.
Yes - I was a powerchair user when I joined, and I was able to lose half a stone plus a pound a week.
I have been able to exercise since they fixed my heart... nearly six months ago.
Pineapple27 is the expert on weight-loss for members who cannot exercise much - and I expect she will respond to my tag and chip in here.
I am glad to hear you are in remission and wish you well.
Hi Calamityjan
I have a significant physical disability, my mobility is minimal - I use a wheelchair outside of the house. I am also very short (4ft 8") as a consequence of my impairment.
I currently eat 1100 for weight loss...
I've lost and kept off over 4 stone (going from 14 stone to 10 stone). Mostly through diet (reducing calories). I log and weigh my food most days - even now after 7 years.
In terms of exercise, I have slowly increased my exercise from nothing, to swimming once a week - have tried and enjoyed Pilates (which if you have reduced mobility or movement can really help address imbalance).
I find it really difficult to do weight bearing exercises.
I currently try and do about 1 hour of seated stretches - I also run/walk once a fortnight using an antigravity treadmill (I pay for 10 x 30 minute sessions - £138.00 - £13.80 a session). They have these treadmill around the country, I use one at the Circle Clinic in Reading where I live.
Exercise is important, not just for earning calories but to strengthen bones and muscles which really help with balance, improving mobility and prevention of falls. I have noticed a significant improvement in these areas.
