Hello and welcome to the forum Sunalini 😊
The best thing to do for weight loss is to eat smaller portions, and cut out any snacks, especially sugary ones. Meals need to include all major food groups including some good healthy fat which is needed for balanced nutrition and helps keep you full for longer. The 12 Week plan is a good starting point or the British Heart Foundation eating plan ‘Facts not Fads’ 😊

Dear Sunalini
I am 72 also and 2 years ago decided to lose weight and reduce blood sugar. It takes determination and effort but I did it and lost nearly 20 kg in 12 weeks. My joints no longer ache and my blood sugar is normal.
I bought the book ‘The 8 week blood sugar diet ‘ and the recipe book for it. I too have taken blood pressure medication for 25 years.
Admittedly I probably had greater mobility than you but 80 % of losing weight is how much and what you eat.
I used to eat low fat and high carb but I have completely changed to a Mediterranean diet avoiding bread rice pasta sugar cakes pastry sweets pies, fruit juice, processed and ready made foods
I eat full fat Greek yogurt olive oil , oily fish etc
I would suggest you look at what you eat each day by writing down everything you eat to work out the calories. It will show your how much you eat and enable you to see what eating habits to change.
Read the book for inspiration
carefully plan your shopping
Make a plan and stick to it.
Because of your medication you probably need to speak with your doctor or diabetic nurse for guidance and support
There are local diabetes prevention programs run by NHS which also help with understanding why some foods should be avoided
You can turn this round and I wish you every success
