Hi all, I’m new to this site, I’m not new to dieting, eating crap or not working out though 😁.

I have tried a few different diets, slim fast was the worst. I lost a stone but then stopped the dieting and put on 1.5 stone!

I think I have come to realise that losing weight isn’t about a fad diet, it’s not easy. It’s about changing the way I use food and exercising, I also have not been the sort of person that talks about this sort of stuff and that’s what attracted me to this site. Like minded people that won’t judge but will support and encourage. I’m looking forward to it.

Take care, Adam.

Hi Adam! I’m in the same position as you - new to this site and to talking about this. Weight has always been a subject I steered clear of in discussions. I think it is important that you have a group of people to share the journey with.

Good luck with it!

Hi Gubbinslane and welcome to this site. I joined halfway through my new healthy lif style change and must say that the support and encouragement on here is brilliant. It isn’t easy to talk about weight especially as it always appears that friends and families dont appear to have a problem. Everyone here understands what you are going through and the support is here 24: 7 which is absolutely brilliant. Good luck with what you decide to do just remember if you are unsure of anything there is always someone who has been there and will help you, Sue 😀😀😀

Welcome adamfromkent and you're spot on. Eating is a natural process and losing weight is about sensibly managing what you consume. 'Dieting' is generally a rather short term concept whereas creating a healthy lifestyle tends to provide us with the tools to continue after we've reached our goal.

You're right that there is no judgement here... best of luck!

Welcome to the forum :)

My tip would be to remember what you've written here and what your experience has been - that dieting doesn't work and you need to find a new approach to healthy eating that you can enjoy for life, not one to get you to a goal weight and then stop.

Hi adamfromkent .

And welcome to this site. We can all relate to what you’ve written, we’ve all done diets in the past, spent loads of money, lost weight , put it back on and become disillusioned with going to classes which don’t give you the support you need daily. You need to work on a new healthy lifestyle looking at what you are eating, portion size, weighing what you eat and recording it all at least for a while till you know what you are doing. You will get all the support you need from everyone on here 24:7 who understand what you are going through. Join a weekly weigh in group...you will get to know those who usually weigh in on the same day . I started by looking at the NHS 12 week plan which costs you...absolutely nothing to follow. Find your BMI range and work on how many calories you are going to stick to each day. If you have several stones to lose work on no bigger than 7 lbs goal at a time and see how you get on. The only exercise I get at the moment usually is walking round our streets, walking when I visit different places , I don’t go to the gym and at the moment our swimming pool is too cold. Give it a go and see how you get on. Hope you continue on your new healthy lifestyle , you made the first step by writing on here so good luck to you. Look forward to seeing you again on here Sue 😀😀😀

Hi sue, thank you for that reply. I also found inspiration with the NHS 12 week plan.

I love the idea of setting a 7lb target and seeing how I get on, I can deal with that, when I look at losing 30lbs in one it’s quite overwhelming.

Thanks, Adam 😁
