Hi everyone, I just joined the group. I have been trying on and off to lose weigh for a while but I have gained another 5kg. Anyways, I got my Body scale today and want to take this seriously. Have clear goals and be commited. What are you doing to cut on calories? I am doing the 21 day fix so I can get back to exercising, with spring starting soon I am hoping to start running early in the morning too. In terms of my diet, I was vegan last year, but it didn't work for me. The high carb diet made me gain more weigh. So I am trying to find a balance where I can still have my values and have a healthy diet. I have been limiting my legume intake and my biggest problem are grains. I am going to try ketotarian. I have added eggs back in my diet since I am not eating legumes and too much nuts is hard on my digestion. What are your tricks?

Welcome!
No tricks, just consistency and being honest. I'm sure a mod will be round shortly with your Welcome Pack, it tends to be low carb around here. I myself am a vegan focused on getting enough protein so I count macros. This only works if I am 1) honest and 2) track, so I use MyFitnessPal. I plan out my day every day (and post it in the Daily Diary thread) and then I'm safe in the knowledge that if I stick to the plan, I will hit my goals.
Welcome!
Yes being honest is crucial, hehe. I find it hard to track food since I cook from fresh it makes hard to add my meals to apps, unless I add ingredients one by one, which is time-consuming. So what I am doing is adding more high fibre low calorie foods (chia before meals, green smoothie, psyllium husk, and I am thinking of adding konjac and agar) , reduce fat (so my body can use my body fat), increase water consumption(plus 3 cups of green tea to help), exercise, proper sleep and relaxation. So far it is going well, I am fine cutting beans. Sugar is slightly harder but if I have something else when I have a craving is fine. Bread is harder, but by adding fiber my craving for bread is going down. I also added vitamins (multivitamins, magnesium, B complex, and iron) to work more on becoming healthier. So far it is going well, and I can feel that my gut is happy. I haven't strickly planned my meals, but I have a set of ingredients to use on recipes.
Welcome ivanethe,
I wish there were some tricks or a magic wand!
Some people here follow the NHS 12 week plan of calorie counting, some follow the LCHF (low carb high fat) method. It really depends on what you want to do. The trick is to find what works for you. Eating a lot of carbs will make you hungry, which will make you eat more. Eating low carb and eating good fats will be a more satiating way and will keep you full, which in turn will help to stop snacking. Which ever method you choose, I would definitely drop all diet and low fat foods.
If you are going to calorie count, then please use the NHS BMI calculator to find your own personal range of calories and start at the top end. If you want to try LCHF then take a look at this link,

Thank you for all the material. I am going through everything.
About calories, I don't think I want to count calories. Last time I had to lose 20kg I did count calories and changed my lifestyle. But I don't feel that counting calories are natural. So now I want to use substitutes that bring the calories down. This will make me eat fewer calories in a day and eat normally.
What do you mean by using substitutes, ivanthe??
You say you don't think counting calories is natural, yet you're prepared to add all sorts of artificial vitamins and minerals and added fibre, rather than eat a natural diet of fresh foods, which would supply all that your body requires?
If you ate natural fats, they would be more satiating and you would automatically reduce your calorie intake, because your meals would fill you.
Have you had blood tests that show that you're lacking in any vitamins? You could be wasting your money by flushing excess down the loo, or putting yourself at risk of over consumption. Why not chat to your GP and see if they feel supplementation is necessary?
