Walking pays off

Good going. I’ve lost 3lbs and an inch on my waist. I joined three weeks ago, weighing 12st 12lbs, 4O inch waist. This is my second weigh in because I’ve been on holiday for two weeks, enjoying huge breakfasts at the hotel I’ve been staying and weighed 13st when I came home last Thursday. I was the fattest woman in the hotel in The Lakes. Whenever I looked in the mirror my belly looked huge. I bought a new bra for the break and was shocked that I was now a 36D when I used to be a 34C. I’m doing a lot more walking but don’t do any strengthening exercise because I don’t like gyms. I’m hoping to start riding again when I’ve lost some more weight. I don’t want to hurt the pony! 🤭

Hi Susie2, My first weigh in was yesterday and because I don't like the gym I've started doing a daily mile so it's good to hear from somebody in a similar situation and who says walking works. Good luck for the coming weeks.

That's amazing. Walking is so great- very underrated! Just in case you wanted to introduce some gentle non-gym strength things, body-weight exercises can be amazing and there is lots available free on youtube and in online articles : ) fitbodybuzz.com/calisthenic...

I was disabled, and have a powerchair, but the cardios fixed me (after half a decade) and I am now up to walking 50Km a week.I am gradually graduating to using sticks again, as this exercises the upper body as well, and increases the pulse rate.

...and I got one of these fitness watches to record it all (and motivate).

I even went out for a short walk late afternoon (when it had stopped raining) to make up my daily 7km/ 10,000 steps.

The weather today is so awful I haven’t ventured far snd looking at today as a day off. I surprised myself in The Lakes when I completed a six mile walk and walked briskly for a good two hours. Since I’ve returned I’m completing between 4-8000 steps and up to 40 mins brisk walking. Gym work bores me.

I have the WeatherPro app, which is quite good at letting me avoid getting wet.

I came straight home after lunch, and then went out later.

I have a weather app too which is very helpful. It’s currently showing non stop showers.

That is why I am here, and not walking one of the long (5km+) routes to lunch.
