It’s Sunday morning- I’ve got weighed and my weight is going up despite doing Slimming World! I’ve gained 10lbs in 2 months and don’t know what to do! I’ve joined this Group in an effort to do the 12 week programme, especially interested in portion control and calorie counting. I also do Intermittent fasting - interested to see if anyone else does this.

Thanks and grateful for any input and conversation xx

Good morning Belter and welcome to the weight loss forum.

The 12 week plan will certainly help with portion control, and also having a healthier relationship with food without negative words like "syn". Getting involved with this forum - I don't mean posting but reading and replying and joining in events and activities - will give you the encouragement and the knowledge to make progress.

Why not jump in and join today's weigh in? You'll be made very welcome and all we ask is that you give some support to others on the thread, as they will for you. Here's the link healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

To help you find your way around, we’ve put all the information you’ll need in a Newbie pack and here's the link healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Please take time to read it so you'll know what the forum has to offer.

I see you have not locked your post. This means that it, and any replies, can be shared around the Internet by Twitter, Facebook etc (see the logos below your post); for this reason, some members are unwilling to reply to unlocked posts.

Wishing you all the best and hoping to see you around.

By the way, it would be interesting to know how you found your way to this forum :)

Hi, Belter , Welcome.

I fast 20/24, and I think it helps... but you have to get everything else right too.

Initially I tried not to eat after 19:30, then 16:00 and now 14:00, with breakfast after 10:00.

Hi, I tried Slimming World but it didn't work for me at all. I like to eat from a range of foods and the idea of syns turned me off completely. I prefer to eat from a range of food using portion control and counting calories. At least you can then have a good choice of foods which is better for you long term as you try to retrain the way in which you eat. We really should be looking to retrain our eating habits in the long term rather than as a short term fix. I wish you the very best on your weight loss journey.

I didn't find Slimming World helpful. However, the NHS weight management programme VERY helpful and FREE, unlike Slimming world & it's need to sell their products as a means to supposedly lose weight. Have you checked out in your area for the 12 week programme?

Hello Hidden and welcome to the weight loss forum.

I have just given you a Newbie badge but if you let me know how much you have lost I'll swap it for a weight loss badge.

Thanks, BridgeGirl - I've now lost a Stone since my assessment with our local NHS Weight Loss Programme. I don't need to lose any more, I've been told, as I'm at a healthy BMI of 24 and I don't feel the need to lose more - but it is FUN to be able to wear clothes once again that I'd given up on because I'd put on weight! Thanks for your support! :)

That's great, and you now have a 1 stone badge beside your name.

At the risk of bombarding you :D !!, I'll tell you there's a Maintainers' Club here, posted monthly, where people who are in the fortunate position of being at a weight they're comfortable with can support each other and share tips.

That's enough for today now :D I'll have exhausted you further, but you have plenty of reading material

Not what you're looking for?
