Anxiety and weight gain
Bungiecat I am more than 5 stone heavier than you and my Doctor has hardly ever mentioned it. The only time he has ever said anything was when I was suffering with trochanteric bursitis last year and even then it was just a 'suggestion' that I looked at loosing weight. He told me he could sign me up to, I think it was, 10 free sessions at Weight Watchers which I politely said 'no thank you' to and told him I belonged to this forum - which sadly he knew nothing about.
I really don't think your Doctor is going to say to say that much. You say you see yourself as obese, what does the BMI calculator say you are and how much does it suggest you loose. If he does mention your weight, then ask what he would suggest that you do. I really don't think he will put you on a crash diet, unless you are awaiting some very necessary surgery that they need you to loose weight for quickly.
Hi I have a BMI of 31.1 and am only 4ft11 I also have a body circumference of 37 inches so yes I think I have an issue I have already been labelled pre diabetic Gail
Ask your Doctor what he suggest. Being pre diabetic can be turned around - have a read of this article you may find it helpful and reassuring.

Article is really interesting I guess I may need a fasting blood test to find out my levels now as it was three years ago since I was last tested Gail
I can't believe they left you 3 years without retesting - I thought my 12 months was bad enough.
There is lots of recent evidence that going lowcarb (not atkins/not keto) can reverse pre-diabetes and even put type 2 diabetes into remission. Diabetes.co.uk has lots of information and they run the lowcarbprogram site.
I've been low carb on under 100g a day since the end of May and apart from losing nearly 2.5 stone all my blood test results have been in the normal range since, apart from one (I tested out the impact of having a slice of toast with low sugar marmalade - not good).
I still have food I enjoy, just different - eg I use almond or coconut flour, and coconut milk. And I've learned to like chia seeds.
Thanks will ask for them to let me have a fasting blood test and let you know the result Gail
Hi, Bungiecat
My BMI is 31.5, and the Drs. did not mention my weight, even when I was 1½ stone heavier!
I am fortunate in that I can lose weight just by eating less, and expect to be "overweight" rather than "obese" by Christmas. After he was diagnosed diabetic, my father lost seven stone in a year!
Having been diagnosed "pre-diabetic" should be an incentive for you to lose weight, but Type? diabetes is, usually, reversible by losing weight.
Losing weight would be beneficial anyway, but having another test might give you peace of mind, and, If you are (pre) diabetic, they might give you medical support for rapid weight loss.
