Coffee and sugar

Hello, I just sign up now so I am fairly new here.

I am overweight and I realised that besides lack of exercise my biggest issue are sweet rather than fat foods.

I am drinking 3-4 coffes/ day each with 1 tbs of sugar. Did you give up on sugar in your drinks? I already reduced from 2tbs but with none it's horrible.

Hello and welcome PandaManda you have my sympathy. This has taken me a long time but I can finally enjoy a coffee without sugar or sweetener. I buy good coffee and have a little bit of cream in it.

To help you find your way around the forum, and enjoy all the things we have on offer, please read the Welcome Newbies Post here healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Take your time to read it carefully as it has lots of useful information,

Out of interest, it is no longer advised to eat a very low fat diet, we need some fat for balanced nutrition, vitamin absorption and it’s realy good for helping us stay full for longer. Plus it tastes good!!

If you need any more help with your food choices please join the Daily Diary (in Events on the forum Homepage healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Out of interest, can I ask how you found us?

Hi PandaManda,

I think coffee must be my number 1 comfort food. Years ago I asked a friend of mine who has always been into healthy eating if she could suggest an alternative to aspartame sweeteners. She told me what we really need to do as a society is to tone way down our sweet tooth. So I tried my instant coffee black and I liked it so much I double checked on the jar to make sure it wasn't sweetened. As for my beloved espresso, I choose less intense varieties (a 7 or 8 as opposed to a 10, which I would probably find bitter black and without a biscuit). I used to put honey in herbal teas now I have also those unsweetened. It is saving me A LOT of sugar for sure!

Try a weaker coffee 👍🏼 it is worth trying if you can get used to it.
