Hi

I am thinking about getting a fitbit and wondered if others have any thoughts?

Slightly concerned that at 59 May look a twit :) but if it helps monitor activity etc will risk that bit. Any thoughts ??

I was given a Fitbit for my 60th birthday, although I did manage to break it before my 61st! :o

I found it very motivating and would recommend, HGF :)

I haven’t got one but know people who find having to keep track of their steps is very motivating, so why not?

PS I still haven't bought one as the google FIT app seems fine (so long as carry mobile about!). Someone told me Lidl are bringing one out so will keep eyes peeled

That Lidl special is on now I think as part of their runners week. Aldi having a running special soon too.

Edit: Aldi runners starts tomorrow, no tracker there though.

I'm 56 & thought they were just a pointless marketing ploy, however having recently become more active (dog walking) & losing approx 12kg I bought a cheaper version - took me a while to understand how it works as instructions not good but I really find it motivates me to do a bit extra! No one is checking your activity so it's only you who sets the goals that you want. I paid £26.99 for mine (look at Letscom Amazon) & at least if you don't like it you haven't wasted £100+ that the fitbit costs! Looks identical to the Fitbit & seems to do the same things!

Thank you yes I saw them and wasnt sure if they were pretty much the same thing. I thought it might motivate more activity....probably looking for where I left it :)

I think you will look just fine HGF123. If you are kind of style conscious, for want of a better phrase, then, some fitbits can be put into very stylish wrist bands, like bracelets or even worn around you neck in a necklace gizmo. They can be swapped around to suit your mood.

I am 51 and have a TomTom watch. Its a bit big but I love it. I only wear it when I'm excercising but it's invaluable to me.

Just don't want to look like I have all the heat and no idea:)

Sorry should have been gear ....predictive text!!

in reply toWobbleless

I feel like that when Im wearing leg warmers!! (joke)

but seriously, I do take your point. My watch looks like it belongs in Star Treck. I felt a real plonker when I first wore it but now I am wedded to it.

Shop aroubd and as Tubbyted said, maybe get one that fits in a nics bracelet.

I know that the information in Cherritorrox original post was really useful too.

good luck x

I'm 50 and have had my Fitbit Charge 2 since February. Didn't like the cheap band so I replaced it with a metal band. It looks nicer now and I wear it everywhere.

I mainly use it to track my steps when walking the dog and my soccer games. It also tracks your sleep and heart rate.

I will be getting one for my son next.

I have the same idea as you. I wear the fitbit charge 2 and I changed the strap to a black metal one so it looks more like a “ normal watch” than a fitness tracker. A friend of mine got a morefit glow as she swims a lot and that one is waterproof plus it is only £32 on Amazon.

That is interesting as I do love swimming and don’t want to waste recording that effort :) Will take a look at that one. Thank you.

Your welcome. It was someone on here who asked a similar question a couple of weeks ago that I found out more about that one. Have a look around and you will find one which will suit you for what you want to use it for.

It motivates me to achieve my goal each day particularly if you set up a group challenge. Also great for monitoring heart beat when exercising to work you the most efficient 'burn' level

Wobbleless profile image

Oh my word Teal123 it is happening already....If I get one people will be expecting me to optimise my burn rate.....frankly the most efficient method for that is if I stay in the sun too long:)

I have had one for a week and I cannot believe how much it has helped me. If I lost it or broke it I would buy another straight away. I have the Charge 2. Make sure that your mobile is comparable though before you buy.😁

I am 64 and have had one for 12 months now. It encourages me to move more and get my daily steps in.
