I was just wondering, is anybody going away for the weekend? I am going away for an annual Pirate Festival in Brixham and a little bit worried about all the different temptations of food and drink over there. Has anybody got any tips or examples of how they deal with temptations whilst being away?
I have purposely booked a self catering chalet because I wanted to be able to make my own healthy stuff for breakfast and dinners and just have some lovely Brixham seafood and fish when I'm out and about. Not sure about a drink though...I want to have fun but I don't want to give in to the drunken pirate atmosphere and indulge in caloric rum and ale debauchery. I will have some slimline g&t but want to keep it under control due to daily calorie intake. Any advice??
Thank you

That sounds like a brilliant event PirateGirl , and of course you'll fit right in
Self catering was a good choice as you'll be in control of your meals there, and then all that lovely fish and seafood - yumyum!!
So the drink is the real challenge (and with alcohol often comes nibbles and snacks and general additions to your meal plan.....). How about setting yourself an alcohol limit each day? Alternating booze with sparkling water? Consciously slowing down your drinking rate? You need to find a way that you can stick to in that festival atmosphere.
You could always say you're on antibiotics and can't drink, but I get the impression you don't want to cut it out completely this weekend.
Thank you BridgeGirl . It is an amazing event! We go every year
Yeah, I wouldn't want to not drink at all, I'd just be miserable if I had to watch everybody else drink beer and rum all weekend. I think the sparkling water idea is great though and I can definitely see myself replacing beer with fizzy water.
I'm also going to try and stick to some sort of a limit because of calories and to drink very slowly. I'll have to work all this out and prepare in advance so that I don't deviate from the plan under pirate peer pressure
Snacks...I haven't even thought about that! I'll have to account for healthy snacks in my calorie intake and will have to have them already made everyday before I go out otherwise I'll end up eating chippy by the sea
That sounds like a lovely weekend Pirate Girl, and I’m sure you’ll have a wonderful time. There is no reason why a weekend away should scupper your weight loss plans. Eat mindfully, be aware of calories, and moderate your intake. You’ll probabaly find you can’t eat as much as you used to, or drink as much either. But relax and enjoy yourself, and get straight back onto plan when you get home 😊
