I've been back from my hols now for a week. Still got 1lb to go to get back to my pre holiday week and then I can start chipping away at stone 5. Happily managed to get right back on track on Monday and the holiday weight is melting away Just been on a nice 7.5km walk on my own (trying the rack up the distance for the Kicking the KMs thread).
Malta was about 10oc hotter than I had expected, when we went out to the pool area the heat was overwhelming and I was worried we spend the week hiding in our room in a pool of sweat. Neither me or hubby are fans of the sun. Happily we acclimatised quickly and had a great time Managed a few nice walks including a 3 km hill climb. We also walked the width of Malta - ok it was the narrowest part about 1km but still a cool thing to have done
Now all the washing is done and the weather getting cooler I am looking to put away some summer clothes - hopefully for the last time. Some things are already too bit but have done me for this year. Today I wore some 3/4 lenght jeans I bought for a holiday 3 years ago which I couldn't get into until this summer. I spent a lot of time pulling them up today as they are getting so big (ok I'm getting smaller). So even though I am not going to get rid of my summer clothes yet, the plan it that they will be too big next year and they will be winging their way to the local charity shop
I am guessing there are a few of you out there with the same idea
As a shopaholic trying not to buy clothes has been hard but I have re-discovered Asda for cheap clothes. I have also had to buy a winter coat - can't remember when I last owned such a thing. But as I plan to keep up the walking through the winter I need to be toasty warm and dry.
Good luck to everyone for the forthcoming week

Well done Sueper for getting off nearly all your holiday weight in a week! I have found that weight put on quickly is soon lost as long as you get back to healthy eating straight away. It is great isn't it to feel in control of your body instead of in the past being totally out of control.
I spent yesterday evening having a big through-out of clothes in sizes that I never intend to have to wear again. I still feel I need to keep clothes in a size above my present size 20/22 but to fill 3 bin bags for the local Samaritans shop with 26 & 28 clothes is brilliant. Next summer when you get out your clothes I'm confident that you will find that they swamp you and you'll have every excuse for a shopping spree. Now I can buy size 20 there are so many more places I can find clothes that fit me, I have found some lovely tops and jumpers at Sainsburys.
I am 2 years in to my new way of eating and have lost nearly 8 stone and gone down 6 sizes. I started at 22st 10lbs and am now 14st 10.5lbs. This has been totally life changing, I intend to loss at least another 2st and more importantly not let the weight go back on. This is just the beginning for the new us and if we all continue to be here to support each other I'm sure you and I and so many others on here can reach our one personal goals.
Sorry to have gone on a bit Sueper, I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the marvellous effort you have made so far.
Hi Ros, you didn't go on. Always great to read others successes, that is what keeps me going. Nearly 8 stone is incredible
I am pretty much a 24 now and have decided I won't buy anything bigger so if an item comes up a little small I save it and try it again after I've lost another half stone. All the clothes I took on holiday fitted me nicely so it was weird going back to work in oversized clothes. I have just bought a pair of work trousers which fit quite snug and another waiting in the wings - I do get a bit fed up wearing clothes that are too big and hide my weight loss.
Here's to next summer hey!
I'm going to a wedding next October and I have seen a fab dress which would look great if I could get to a size 18 by then and if the chunky calves don't let me down. It is quite dear but if in comes down in price I'm gonna risk it. Fingers crossed
You must feel so fantastic now and should be really proud of yourself. This forum and people like you is what keeps me going and so many others too
Hi Sueper, thanks for your comments. I agree with you about getting encouragement from other people posts.
I think you should show off the ever getting smaller you at work, be proud! Would a couple of tunic tops/knits be suitable for work, in a 24 they should give you quite a lot of wear, as they skim the hips and should still look OK when your a 22. Which the way your going will only be a few months in coming. I don't now how it is for you but I have found I drop a dress size each stone to stone and a half I lose.
I hope the dress you'd like for the wedding next year comes down in price.
The size thing is hard to say. The last stone didn't really do anything - rather frustrating. I carry weight all over but was more bottom heavy so lost a lot size wise on the bottom and not so much up top. I'm now more hourglass than pear which is nice Also the sizing from shop to shop is so different. I do have a few new bits for work coming into winter and by next summer I am sure I will be buying some new stuff.
Great that you're getting close to your pre-holiday weight again - you'll soon lose that pound and be making further losses to get towards your next goal. Sounds like you've been doing quite a bit of sorting of your clothes, and it's great that you've got a Wedding to attend next October, and a dress in mind for the occasion. Definitely a good incentive to reach that goal by then.
Wishing you a great weekend and another really good week ahead.
Hi sueper, it's great that you are putting away the summer clothes with a view to never wearing these again due to not fitting in them. I have done the same with many of mine and it's such a great feeling that although they are not that old, they no longer fit because of all of your hard work so well done. I bet your loving your new winter coat that will keep you warm on those cold winter nights. I recently bought one along with about 5 wooley hats gloves and some ear muffs. I don't plan on freezin out on a walk, but do plan to continue walking. What do we do when it snows ?? don't fancy walking in the snow, will have to walk over the gym I suspect. I personally am not looking forward to the real winter kicking in, but we must learn to adjust and a nice new warm coat is a good start. I am sure you will soon be rid of the last lb and you will be well on your way to losing that all important 5 st.
Have a lovely week and good luck with kicking that lb to the kerb
I started walking in January so I am hoping that as I started at the coldest time of the year I will make it through the winter - we'll see. Not sure about the snow though - we don't get much down here usually so fingers crossed.
I do have a walking machine in the garage which I may utilise if it is just too cold and wet. I also have an exercise bike but just can't seem to get comfortable on it. I really must try again.
I totally love this thread!! The thing which finally pushed me to make a change was that nothing in my wardrobe fitted me anymore (i went from a 12/14 to an 18/20 in about a year), so I'm doing things in reverse, putting everything into another wardrobe and then hoping to reintroduce things as i for into them again. My wardrobe is *very* empty at the moment - you've given me a glimmer of hope that by the spring maybe I'll have a few more choices! Thanks
Hi Garfield, I have some bags in my oft with smaller clothes so I know what you mean. I hate throwing away stuff I might fit into one day and it looks like my hording may have paid off. I get a fair bit of time off alone at xmas so I think I'll go through them then
I hope you can get back into those 12/14s soon
Hopefully mine will be going to the charity shop next year.
Well done - sounds like you are well and truly back in the swing of it.
Its reverse here so for me there are some winter clothes that I expect will be going off to charity sooner rather than later!
Glad you had a great holiday.
Hi Sueper,
Glad holiday went well, bit like you need to clear all the washing/ ironing, my dining room looks like a Chinese laundry lol.
I am also planning a huge clear out, and get rid of all the stuff that's too big and even if did fit not sure would want to wear it !!!
I buy a lot from Asda, especially in their sales, as I don't work now I don't need the clothes I did and who not loves a bargain. We have a M&S outlet nearby and as I've lost wgt had some real bargains from the clearance end love it !!!
Had a quick look at my Christmas dress yesterday, still love it but holding out to try on for a few more weeks!
Hi Flossie, I know what you mean about not wearing some of your old stuff even if it still fits. I've found as my shape has changed that some stuff that still fits just doesn't look right anymore.
It's just under 10 weeks until Christmas so still plenty of time to get off those lbs. I am aiming for 15lbs by 23/12 (xmas party). Maybe you should weight a few more weeks before you try the dress, I bet you're not sure what size to get - or do you already have it?
I bought a gorgeous top about 3 xmases ago and hoped I could finally get into this xmas. I have tried it on and it finally fits on the belly but the shoulders and chest are massive! Gonna see if I can adjust but if not I'll have to find something new too
How much fun is clothes shopping going to be this Christmas eh !!
I've not tried the dress on yet, think a bit scared as its really slinky and I think will show every lump and bump !! lol.
I think you are right and I need to be patient and get a few more Ibs off.
The way you are going your top will need to be totally remade not adjusted !! Fantastic š
Keep looking though lol

Hi Sueper, great you've nearly reversed that holiday weight gain, and good to hear about all the walking you've been doing. I'm also in the South, and started my running in January, so I'm fairly confident about making it through winter okay. The only things that worry me are the dark evenings (don't much fancy my chances on unlit canal paths) and the greater number of rainy days. Also, another thing that stumps us in the winter is ill days - hard to go out as much if you've got a streaming cold. I've decided I'm starting a berocca regime for this reason! I really want to be healthier this winter, fewer colds and bugs, hoping my body is not just lighter and fitter but also better equipped to fight off all the winter viruses etc.
By the way - I took a bag of clothes into H&M yesterday and got a Ā£5 voucher for it. I also went bra shopping and saw places were offering vouchers for taking in your old bras. These all have a minimum spend attached to them, e.g. you have to spend Ā£25 to get the Ā£5 off in H&M, but I think it's worth investigating this. If we're all throwing out our clothes and in need of buying some more, then we might as well pick up some of these vouchers. Maybe look up the shops you like and see what recycling voucher deals they offer - I think M&S do something, it feels like this is a new thing that lots of shops are doing now. Also, how about ebaying some things. Then you can literally use the money you earn on ebay to buy new things
Hi Ruth. Fingers crossed we both make it through the winter without too many sniffles - I have only recently recovered from 1 cold so at least that is one less to look forward to!
I love the idea of recycling vouchers I will definitely look out for that.
A few years ago I ebayed a lot of clothes but I am a bit too lazy these days. Having said that I do have a few lovely more expensive bits (some with labels) that I might ebay.
A winter coat... ! I've spent so many years wanting to buy a nice good coat, but when your fat, even though I could buy a big size, I never have spent much on one, feeling that - before long it will be too tight and it'll be another waste. ...my aim will be to get a good winters coat when I get to a decent weight, and feel confident that I can keep it for as long as the cost.
