Finding motivation after "taking a break" from diet and exercise

Hello all!

Has anyone got any advice on returning to healthy diet and exercise? I 'took a break' from it and gained 4.5lbs (!!!) I'm finding it difficult to get any motivation to go to the gym and eat healthy. I particularly find myself thinking "EUGH I can't be bothered" whenever I get to the gym resulting in minimum exercise done then I eat junk after because I feel discouraged. Any advice would be appreciated 😊

There's no rule that says you have to go to the gym ;) Find some activity that you enjoy and will look forward to. Swimming? Dancing? Getting out for a walk? .....

Re motivation, that means the reason you want to lose weight/get healthy. Only you know that. Why do you want it? What do you have to gain? What will be different? Write it down if that will help and come back to it if you find you're stalling.

Most of us who are "regulars" here find the support and ideas and inspirational stories help keep us on track. Things like the Daily Diary where you can note your eating plans for the next day so you feel that bit more committed to sticking with it.

Good luck :)

I agree about finding an exercise you enjoy, dancing, cycling etc Also think really hard about why you want to be slimmer and fitter and constantly remind yourself of these goals 😊

Best wishes
