Not lost any weight for nearly two months

I am a 60 year old women about 16 months ago I went on a diet I was a massive 155 kilos. The first 14 months great lost weight every month, I am now 90 kilos. Still over weight and I would like to get down to 60 or 70 kilos.

I do Water Aerobics 6 days a week for about hour to hour and half, and I work my body very hard. I walk more and ride a bike.

I eat healthy smoothie fruit and veg for breakfast, lunch is a banana and salad for evening meal normally with chicken no skin. If I snack it would be a few grapes, Apple, pear.

I don't eat ready meals etc anything I do eat I make from scratch, I have given up sugar apart from sugar that is in food.

And for the last two months I have not loss any weight an odd pound it is very demoralised and disappointing.

Health wise I did have type 2 diabetes and are now diabetes free as from April, as it is now controlled by diet and exercise. So really good news.

My body shape has changed due to the exercising, I really don't get that muscle is heavier than fat? A pound of fat is the same as a pound of muscle.

I understand that sometime your body goes into starvation mode, I understand you sometimes loss inches and not weight. I both weigh and measure my body once a week and everything apart from very small changes nothing is moving.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hi ArtyMegs

Welcome to the weight loss forum.

First well done on losing 65kgs that is fantastic going and you should be so proud of yourself on that achievement. Do you count calories if so have you adjusted the amount of daily calories your having as that could be a reason your weight as come to a stop. Sometimes we can hit a plateau where your weight loss stops. You just need to shake things up a bit by either changing your exercise routine or your meals to help kick start it off again.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

Wow, you have done so well! I can appreciate that you feel sad weight loss has slowed down. I feel that 2 as I have lost 6 stone but want to lose more. Looking at what you eat, I don't know how tall you are, you don't seem to eat much. Have a look at the bmi calculator to see how many calories you should be eating. Maybe your body is holding on to weight if it feels you are starving a bit. If you are eating the right amount of calories I would be be careful of the high levels of sugar in fruit, smoothies are bad for this I believe particularly as I have been told crushed fruit is worse for sugar, not sure how but I am told it is. Good luck with losing more weight, stick around and ask for a badge for the amount you have lost. I made it about 8 stone but you can have badges in kilos if you like although most of us on here use stones.🤞

Very well done ArtyMegs on your success so far. 😊 Not just the weight loss but you have made changes to your health on the inside that you cannot see.

I agree with Rose with regards to the plateau, it's about getting the right balance of calories, too low and your body clings to fat. I suggest you work out your BMI using the NHS website, and find your target calories, then join the Daily Diary for help in getting the numbers right, not just calories but nutrients.

I'm sure our members will have lots of tips to help. Strategies for breaking the plateau and moving those pesky scales once more. 😊

Best wishes

Anna

Thanks for the advice and encouragement I am single minded that I will never put that weight on again

have just checked my BMI not as bad as I thought it would be. No I have never counted calories, I should be having between 1704 to 2191 which is hug amount of food, there is no way I could eat that amount of food a day even at the lower end.

I have change my life style completely no sweets, no crisps, no cakes, no sugar, no milk, cheeses. I do keep a food gallery of my daily meals. But it seems like I am just maintaining.

That with more than 10 hours a week exercising in the pool, and having a more active life walking riding my bike as much as possible. When I take my car I park as far as possible at the supermarket so I have to walk more.

Hi and welcome ArtyMegs

You have done fantastic to lose that amount of weight, absolutely brilliant, well done :)

I agree with others that you might not be eating enough calories, as it doesn't sound alot what you are eating throughout the day.

I would certainly take the advice you have been given, especially joining the DD as this might be beneficial to you.

Last but not least, i would like to wish you every success with your weight loss :)

Take some time getting to know the forum, read all the suggestions Rose gave you and just ask if you have any questions 😊

Hi I have to agree with the others. Well done for losing all that weight but you defintely aren't eating enough. You know about the starvation bit and I reckon that's what your body is doing now. If it goes into starvation mode then your body will lower your metablism in the effort to hang on to calories thus making it even harder to lose weight.

Oh and muscle weighs more than fat coz it is thicker and more dense.
