The danger of friday doughnuts!

So, this morning I had an omelette with mushrooms, spinach and tomatoes.

Lunch was mackerel with salad and a pear and I am making a veg curry for tea...

All v healthy...

Then just now, my teenage son came in with a pack of 5 doughnuts left over from school and...

BOOM!

I know I'm someone who can't rely on willpower (esp at this time of day when I am starting to feel hungry) so I choose to accept that I will 'just have to' enjoy a sneaky doughnut...

Isn't it amazing how easy it is for temptation to sneak in?

But d'you know what? It's a journey...

I have always been grateful that I just don't like doughnuts. But don't have a sneaky one, have one and enjoy it, but preferably don't eat the whole packet!

Hee hee - fortunately everyone else finished them off and I got only one!

Oh, and I did enjoy it! : )

Yep, I agree with Ceals . If you really want one, you should have one.... and chances are that it won't taste quite as amazing as you expected, and in the course of time you'll be less tempted.

From day one I have had a dessert most evenings and that didn't stop me from losing weight... hopefully it helped my mindset, that I knew I could have something, even if it was only a small amount.

Ooooh. I like that idea! Do you find yourself saying no to other things because you know you’ve got something coming up?

I’m terrible for an afternoon snack. So maybe if I plan to have something dessert like then I’ve got something to fall back on!

We're all different but I think it was part of what helped me.

The whole idea is to make the journey to a healthy lifestyle as pleasant as possible. Theoretically nothing's off the table if it's part of a sensible approach.

I used to drink every night as well and still lost weight by keeping within my daily calories. I only stopped because I wanted to eat more of what I liked and alcohol was stopping me :)

I don’t think I’d ever considered including “treats” in to my calorie count before. Which would mean that I’d have a super healthy week, then a rebellious week. But actually moderating the “treats” is a far healthier way of doing that!

Thank you for sharing your plan - I think it’s really going to benefit me in the long run!

This sounds like something I'd do!!! This year I am committed to being healthy as much as I can but I think I'd go mad if I didn't have the occasional treat .Just not 3 times a day like I've done in the past !!!

Ceals is right. As long as you enjoyed it. And it does not hurt to have a treat once and awhile. I found if I do not have a treat I overeat on goodies even ones i have not thought about in awhile.
