I have a lot of weight to lose and needed to get moving to help this along
I found the NHS Livewell site and did the easy exercises as I've not done any for quite a while
I also have some mobility issues, one of them is loss of balance so when doing the balance exercise I had a few problems, couldn't get the hang of walking toe to heel - I was doing this without the stick I usually use. I was going everywhere except where I wanted to go
Although I was getting frustrated with myself I persevered and finally managed it. If I can do it, anyone can. Don't give up

Well done for starting with the exercise but be carefull not to fall with your balance not good. I would suggest you keep your stick with you for now just to be on the safe side.
Thank you YellowRose55, I really should take more care I know but when I get something in my head I can be very stubborn but I will take your comment onboard
I too have a disability and my mobility is severely impaired as a result.
Moving more and losing weight will definitely help you with balance and help to reduce / minimise falls. Keep going and you may surprise yourself
I don't do anything too strenuous - Pilates and various stretches either sat on a gym ball or laying on the floor.
I have a treadmill in the garage and find I am better able to walk on that - it's been adapted with a bar across it that I am able to hold on to which makes me less likely to overbalance.
Not sure if you are into "online learning" but I did this on-line course in November which is free of charge and really opened my eyes as to the difference that exercise (even moderate exercise) can make to our musculoskeletal system and the ageing effects of being too sedentary!
Pineapple27, I am still going to the pain clinic and they suggest doing some exercises sitting down which I am doing but have also added the balance and strength ones found on NHS site
Physio want me to strengthen my leg muscles and that is really what started me off but I do need to be careful, I really don't want to be falling
I am under a Pain Clinic at the moment, have had assessments with orthotics - who have told me the raise I have on one shoe is not doing me any favours! They have given me a temporary heel wedge worn inside my shoes and already I feel the benefit. I have also seen a physiotherapist and am going back on 8th January to start trying out some exercises - there is an anti-gravity treadmill (The Alter-G) which I have tried and also hope to use and a hydrotherapy treadmill too. Want to get back to my Pilates, which I was doing 1-1 as I need quite specific input to suit my disability and lack of limb length.....
