I posted this 5 months ago and got no replies. Thought I'd try again:
I am size 30 and very interested in playing sport - badminton, netball, walking football, basketball - not that I am any good at any of them!
I live in Enfield and work in Hackney and I am looking for like-minded larger men or women who would like to band together and get moving for improved health.
Hmm… although I'm about a size 22-24 and live in Hackney, I'm too afraid to. I'm sure there are many in the other forums that'd be interested. Also, there are certain apps where people arrange groups and such. I was on a step tracker app, and there were folks arranging walking groups on there.
Hi bbwnoire71. If you go on the back to netball site they will let you know where the nearest netball group is to you. I live in Hertfordshire and have been going to back to netball since January. I've gone from size22 to 14 (lost 3 1/2 stone since oct '16) We play once a week all ages, sizes and it's great fun. I also do walking, clubbercise , parkrun too. Since losing the weight I'm less self concious in a swimming costume so regularly go swimming too. It all started with the netball so I would encourage you to start with that. I know there are groups in Broxbourne, Hoddesdon, Harpendon if they are near to you? Give it a go. Also try the England netball site for more info. Good luck.
Thank you for that advice, Middy. I have never played netball but interested in learning it - at my size I need a very accepting, non-judgemental group, though. I'll give it a go. Well done on your weightloss, by the way!
Honestly there are women of all sizes who go to netball! Also clubbercise is done in the dark so no one can see you. You are concentrating on the instructor so you don't notice anyone else. Clubbercise is Nationwide. Good luck with whatever you try x
