Check your carbs. How much pasta, bread, potato and rice are you eating? Maybe try cutting down or even cutting out for one meal.
Also check the sugar content on any processed package food. 4 grams = 1 tsp of sugar.
And alcohol. I know, killjoy lol. But alcohol can have a lot of sugars and beer in particular has carbs.
Congrats on kicking the smoking, that takes a lot of effort.
Portion size is a good way of managing your calorie intake and as kiwikyd-nz has pointed out, this also includes what you drink.
