Turned 60 this year and like getting out and about in the countryside. However am finding it harder to do so, stamina and muscle strength are both significantly reduced. I'm hoping reducing weight and getting my thyroid levels right plus some low weights to increase muscles might get back to a reasonable level of fitness.

Morning Sternenlicht

Once you start losing some weight and slowly increasing your exercise you will be able to get out more. When I started the forum in June 2016 I couldn't even walk across my living room without using walking sticks due to 2 total knee replacement but after losing 5st and slowly increasing my exercise I now walk my dog twice a day and do lots of gardening. Just keep going you will get there a little bit more each day. :)

Have a lovely weekend.

Thank you for the encouragement yellow rose ( what a pretty name)

Pretty name yourself, Starlight! Well, you’re in the right place to start a weight loss journey, but make sure you see your GP and get tested to get the correct dosage of thyroxin. You can’t improve an underactive thyroid with diet. But eating healthily will help give you more energy, and you will want to get out and about, and that will help build up muscle strength and stamina.

Hi Sternenlicht, l really hope that you are able to still get out and about in the countryside - nature is so healing for our bodies and our minds on so many levels and it sounds like you love the countryside (as do I!)

Like the others have said, check with your doctor about your thyroxin doses and eating healthily will help to give you more energy and lose weight at the same time. Stick with simple, fresh whole food (as nature intended) and build up your muscle tone gently.

Wishing you all the best!
