Day two and I'm on track with my fitness. Making good use of my gym membership. Aiming to introduce more cardiovascular exercise as I mainly do Pilates and gentle swimming. Had to up my calories from 14 to 16 hundred. Has anyone lost weight by taking the extra calories? I worked out the allowance on the app.

I lost weight when I ate more. I wasn't counting but I started eating more when my weight stalled and I lost weight.

That's good to know. I'm trying to plan my meals a bit better so I know a couple of days if I go over I can claw it back. How long has it taken you to lose a stone? I'm not in a rush but I know seeing results will spur me on.

It took about eight weeks and then I stalled by not eating enough for several weeks. It has been the same since July 5th. I have to repair the damage and keep eating enough of the right foods to get it back on track again but I won't give up!

Get your personal calorie allowance from the NHS BMI calculator, which takes exercise into account, then eat as much as you can, while still losing weight :)

I had a look. Around 1600 it is which I things I can manage on. 1400 seemed so low. I was on SlImming World before but I felt like it was promoting over eating and as I'm a compulsive over eater it felt like I was going round in circles. This NHS plan is a new approach and learning portion control is key for me.

Hi there Murdy1973 i have done this and managed to lose between 2&1/2 and 3stone at the moment because before I used to count calories I found I was only eating around 1000 Cals a day. I was always putting on weight and had no idea how as I never ate too much. I was told to up my calories to at least the amount advised in the NHS bmi calculator and I did this and it works great for me. I am nearer my goal now so it is getting harder and taking longer, but they do say this happens. Because I chose to go for the lower amount as well I also cannot drop my amount any further to get there because otherwise I wouldn't be eating enough calories, I would advise you to eat mid or high range, this way you can drop if you need to any time. Also, keep checking th e bmi calculator as the amounts you can eat do drop as you lose weight. Good luck with your journey.
