I sprained my ankle a week ago and am unable to exercise for a while. Would like to lose some weight and stop snacking on unhealthy foods. I've never calorie counted before so hope it's not too onerous.
First day!: I sprained my ankle a week... - Weight Loss Support
First day!
Hi and welcome 1CB7 Sorry to hear about your ankle - hope it's better soon
I'd like to invite you to join our Newbie Club, which we hope will be a good place for you to connect with members, who are also just starting out. If you just post a few words to introduce yourself and respond to others there, you'll soon break the ice. Here's the link

I've also given you a week 1 badge.
Wishing you all the best
Thank you for your support.
Welcome to the forum, you will be receiving a message from one of our admin team shortly explaining things you should do including joining our Newbie Club, as this gives you many information facts and will help you start to join with others just starting out by just introducing yourself to others with a small message on the site like you have here as well. Do make sure you check out the NHS bmi calculator as this gives you personal amounts of calories you should be eating for yourself whereas the other sites tend to only give average amounts instead. I use MyFitnessPal to help add up my calorie amounts but I make sure I still reach the amounts that I am advised by the bmi calculator and ignore the amounts MyFitnessPal tells me to eat up to. I just use it to help me make sure I know the calorie amounts of all items I eat and drink. The only thing you don't need to add up is glasses of water. Good luck with your journey.
Calorie counting can take a little time to get to grips with but if you can keep your eye on the main goal and work your way through, it will definitely be worth it in the end. Hubbysmissmouse has pointed you towards MyFitnessPal and I created my own Excel spreadsheet so it could just be a case of finding what works for you.
Don't worry about your ankle at the moment as weight loss can still be achieved with sensible food management. If you can reach a point later where you can exercise, then even better.
Good luck.
That sounds interesting. I'll look into it, thanks.
