Morning Hidden

Sounds like you had a good day with all those steps, well done. :)

I hope you don't mind me saying but 1200 calories sounds a little low, did you do the BMI checker to work out your daily calories? If not you can find it in the newbie information in the September newbie club post.

Have a great day. :)

Thank you, another member pointed out the same yesterday! The 'problem' i have is that I am only a few pounds overweight -my BMI is well within healthy range, but I am short and small framed so every lb shows - and sits round my waist! I looked at the Tdee score for maintaining healthy weight which was almost 1700 calories, and took off 500 to get to 1200. I want to stay wearing leggings forever - even though I am 67 and should probably know better!!

Great site, thanks for all the encouragement!

Hi I looked at a website and it recommended that if you are wanting to loose weight reduce what you should be eating by 250 calories so that you are in a deficit from your maintenance level so that should make it 1450. This should still help you loose weight without feeling hungry, I know if I feel hungry and I am tempted to make poor food choices- crisps!!!

Like Rose, I was a tadge concerned about your calorie intake. I tried out Tdee and it does seem to match my maintenance level from the NHS BMI.

Knocking a third off your maintenance calorie level is quite a step. You would still lose weight by reducing by less and would be more likely to maintain when you reach your goal.

Good luck whichever route you take.

Hi Hidden . I'm glad you're finding the forum helpful and well done on all those steps. Just a word of warning about using too few calories though.

I'm a 66 year old female and only five foot tall so every pound shows on me When started in June my BMI calorie range was between between 1,384 and 1,779 so I started in the middle of that range at 1,500 cals and although I did lose a few pounds in the first week or two, I suddenly stopped losing and after staying the same for about three weeks I was advised on the forum to up my calories to 1,700. Since then my weight is moving down again.

I know it seems strange but as I've learned on here through some very helpful people, eating too few cals can send your body into starvation mode and it will hang on to the fat.

I would certainly think about increasing your calories if I were you.

Best of luck.

Thank you all! I am new to this 'game' so I will take a middle route and up my intake to 1400 calories - and let you know how it goes!!!
