I've just had a health check and been advised to lose a stone. I knew that I needed to lose some but find it hard to stick to healthy food. Also I was about to see my doctor to have thyroid checked as been tired and had a few other symptoms which I thought were just related to my age, mid 50's. Anyway my pulse was 56 bpm and they said I should make doctors appointment but can't get in until 13th September. I go on holiday next week and will try to not pig out too much but I am determined to do it when I get back. BMI is 27.47 and high level should be 24.9 and I need to lose 10cm from my waist. The question is can I do it. Any tips and advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Wenders55 and welcome ! If you are here today and opening up to us, this means that you've taken the first step towards a better you so well done for that !
Regarding your weightloss don't look at it as if it was a burden because your mind is stronger that your body. Just listen to your body wh
en you are hungry and drink plenty of water. Sometimes it's not hunger but thirst.
There are so many ways to cook healthy food nowadays! For example if you're a fan of burgers and fries you could cook it at home by cooking your own potatoes in the oven with little oil or adding more vegetables to your burger. The result will be even better than what you can buy outside
Make small changes everyday. For example replace soda by tea or water. Or if you eat a lot of sugary desserts or cookies in a day, reduce to one cookie per day. Then none.
If you really struggle with everyday make it every week. As long as it keeps you going.
Don't say can I do it but I CAN and I WILL do it ! Your goal is achievable as long as you have the right mindset !
To finish off I would say to surround you with positive people, people that will support you in your journey.
I can see that you are determined
I post motivation quotes everyday so you can check that out!
Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I am going to look for some nice healthy meals to cook - it's just working out the calories I think I might have a problem with especially if there's a lot of ingredients as I imagine it will be time consuming. Also my husband eats whatever he likes and enjoys going out at weekends so I will have to choose wisely. I am crossing my fingers that the thyroid is not an issue and that is contributing to my problem and not just over eating. Anyway will find out soon. Looking forward to getting started.
Of course you can do it. You can do anything if you set your mind to it!! Good luck to you on your journey!!!
