Need encouragement to lose weight and feel better about myself.
A loser who is not losing!: Need... - Weight Loss Support
A loser who is not losing!
Hi and welcome, Avie
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the NHS BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.
To the right of the HOME page (bottom on a mobile), you'll find Events. In there, you'll find links to our daily Weigh-in's (you will choose just one day per week), our Daily Diary, where we post our menu and exercise plans, for accountability, advice and support and our “What's happening today” thread, where we pop in for a chat.
Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
Hi Avie3
You've found the right place! If you feel happy to, can you share a bit more about yourself so that we can understand and help to address any specific issues that are standing between you and losing weight?
Do you have much weight to lose?
It can sometimes feel that what we would like to achieve is out of sight over the horizon, but every step we take in the right direction will get us there eventually, even if we sometimes stop by the wayside for a short break, or meander down the wrong fork in the road!
The good news is that we are all in the same boat - some of us have arrived at our goals and then lost the plot a little (myself...!) BUT it's much easier doing this with encouragement and support and sharing our knowledge (and nice food ideas!)
Hello Avie, You have done something worthwhile already, in that you have come onto this forum to ask for help! If you join in, you will find so much advice and support. The people here are non- judgemental, many having been in the same boat at the beginning of the weight loss journey.
There are regular weekly weigh ins that you can join. You choose the day that you want to weigh and then post it each week. It can seem daunting the first couple of times, but you soon realise that everyone is extremely supportive of one another, cheering on your good times and commiserating with you in bad times.
There is also a Daily Diary where people write their food plans down. These are helpful in planning and also for getting ideas from others.
Just start with anything that appeals to you and go from there
Good luck in your progress!
Need to lose four stone- put it on after breast cancer and resultant hysterectomy.
You can do this Avie3 . It might seem a bit daunting at first, but start by downloading the NHS 12week plan and spend some time getting to grips with that. It does work, thousands of us on here are testament to that. Anything you need to know, just ask. 😊
