I ate 3 meals a day, roughly the same amount of calories as last week at around 1,700-2,000 calories. Maybe a little less on some days, because I just couldn't be bothered to eat or try.
Did a lot of exercise, especially earlier on in the week. On Monday, I did over 1 hour of exercise. The other days I did around 20-40 minutes, mostly depending on how I felt.
So… 😑
Last week I was 286.4lbs.
This week, my weight is about 288lbs, I think.
I think I've gained about 2lbs.
I'm not sure why it went so wrong. I don't know if years of obesity has caused me metabolic damage that is beyond repair, but I gained.
I ate a lot of mashed potatoes earlier on in the week, which I learned could be detrimental to my health and diet. I'm not sure if it's that, but even if it was, it's shocking that my body would react that way to something like that. It's quite eye opening and worrying.
I'd be lying if I said I haven't lost my motivation. I have lost much of it. We'll see what next week brings, but I'm done stressing over it. My initial goal was to maintain, anyway.
I'll update you all next Monday! 🙋

Well don't give up!! If you look at my weight graph, it goes down a few days and then up a few days and down even more as I went along.its just muscle and water fluctuations. If you look at my posts I had several that said I was doing it all wrong and the scales aren't moving or going up but I kept going. That the way weight is. It will always ebb and flow. This is the main reason I think people give up. Don't let it beat you.
True. I'm going to try to limit my carb intake a little, because I obviously have insulin sensitivity (?), which would explain why my body reacted to potatoes that way.
We'll see. Bread and potatoes seem to make me gain weight, whereas white rice hasn't been a problem for me (yet!).
True that! But you've done well so far. Celebrate your successes so you don't lose your motivation. Hoping you'll have a better week ahead. All the best!
Well done for sticking to your plans and updating DiZia
You have lost quite a bit of weight quite quickly and it is likely to slow down. I am sure a bit of your motivation has gone but try to remember that wonderful feeling when it was going well. I am sure you can get back to it.
I think I haven't been losing much weight, apart from the last couple weeks. I think I've damaged my body too much due to all the foods I used to eat.
I don't see myself bouncing back much. This really sucks, because my quality of life depends on this. I can either lose weight, or I can spend the rest of my life miserable, ugly, and lonely.
Oddly, I'm not as distraught this time round. Really, I was expecting something like this to happen.
I'm optimistic for tomorrow, because I will pick myself up and start again. And the next time I gain weight, I'll be less upset (if this is a trend). We'll see if I lose weight again. 266lbs is my goal, and I hope to reach that by November.
I can't wait til the morning. I'll start my NHS 12 Week Plan again, and will start using My Fitness Pal a little. Just to get an idea of how much I'm really eating.
dont give up... the scales are just mean sometimes... take your measurements and take notice of how your clothes are fitting... sometimes the scales dont move for weeks (i know this feeling well) but my clothes are definately looser.. so just keep going and dont set an end date.. this is your new healthy lifestyle now and your in it for the long haul......you CAN do this x
I agree. My scales haven't moved for a week or two due to holidays and lots of walking. But my clothes are definitely slacker, I got into a pair of trousers yesterday I have never worn as they never fastened since the day I bought them! I think my body is a different shape so I expect those scales will move soon.
I've heard sometimes the scales stay the same due to water weight. That if you've had many carbs, it causes the body to retain water. Also, if you're stressed, it increases a chemical that encourages water weight. Very strange!
I found that I really had to get a grip on my carb intake before I could lose weight. I have no bread, pasta or rice and very few potatoes. I do have oats for breakfast, bananas with yoghurt and try to eat carbs earlier in the day. Also I avoid snacks in between meals, preferring to eat larger meals. This may not work for you as we are all different. Even with all this my carb macro is never particularly low, which just goes to show what a carb monster I am! Good luck
I'm having a hard time imagining my diet without rice. I think I'll wean myself off from white rice to brown rice at some point. Oh, and yes, I have 3 big meals. Keeping up with snacks is too much trouble! 🙀
