Body Types - Mesomorph?

Evening All,

I've been doing a bit of research about body types and I'm quite interested in it.

I'm certain that I am a mesomorph body type and this motivates into eating better as typically my body type, easily gains and loses weight - And I can lose weight, if my nutrition is on point. Another factor is weight training, I've ALWAYS been interested in weights, deadlifts and crossfit HIIT activities however felt, too embarrassed and inexperienced to give it ago. So I've set some personal goals to commit to weight training and doing HIIT.

My gym is 24 hours, so I am going later this evening when it should be quieter and giving it a try!

Obviously my body type and pros and cons of being a 'mesomorph' is not the be all and end all of being healthy. But it's really encouraging and reassuring to me, that if I commit to a healthy lifestyle, diet and exercise that weight loss should come easily, if I'm consistent!

Consistently is key. And I'm realising that I can not rely on anyone but myself, to get the body that I want. I never used to have the time but now I've MADE the time to go to the gym.

I went earlier today and completed abs and legs/glue workouts and I'm feeling much more happier in myself, that I am changing my lifestyle and being active. Rather than shovelling food and binge eating all the time and feeling like crap, such a repetitive and destructive cycle. I feel like I'm finally breaking it.

Here's some infornation in body types, found it on google;

Ectomorph: Lean and long, with difficulty building muscle.

Endomorph: Big, high body fat, often pear-shaped, with a high tendency to store body fat.

Mesomorph: Muscular and well-built, with a high metabolism and responsive muscle cells

**Obviously I am not slender like the diagram however prior to being overweight, I had good muscle definition and had an athletic body type**

Hi StephGetsSlim . Interesting stuff, it's good to realise that even after losing weight we will all look different and to accept our 'natural healthy weight'.

Reading this I think I'm a 'mesomorph' bodytype too. I'm never going to be the slimmest girl in town. Funny, I was having a similar conversation with a friend yesterday when we looked at our ideal height/weight range we realised we'd look ill at the lower range because we're both more naturally curvy and wouldn't be able to maintain it.

Thanks for the information x

Wow this is so interesting! I think I am definitely an Endomorph. My mother and grandmother are, too. We are never going to be the skinniest, and have very round/curvy shapes as well as easily holding onto body fat.

It was interesting to read that Endomorphs should eat less than their recommended calorie intake, as I have been thinking this myself the last few weeks.

Am enjoying reading lots of articles, now - thankyou!!
