Hi one of the administrators will be in contact shortly but though I have never been on a lot of diets, mainly calorie counting which I did not think of as a diet since it was just eating the correct ammount for me. I wanted to loose 1.5stones and started on the NHS 12 week weight loss plan on 1st January and I have lost 1st 9lbs just by following the plan longer than the 12 weeks, since its designed to help you loose 1-2lbs per week. You can either limit your calorific intake reccommended by the plan which is 1400 for women and 1900 for men or enter your details in the BMI calculator and if you are outside the healthy range it will give you the lower and upper range of calories to loose weight. If you are within the healthy BMI range you won't get a calorific range since you are eating the correct ammount but you can still loose weight by going for the 1400/day until you reach your target weight. Its also based on building up on your exercise, though there are some people on this forum who have medcial conditions which restrict exercise and they have still lost weight.
There is no right or wrong way to loosing weight- alot use NHS plan but others use variations of the 5:2, British Heart Foundation, weight watchers & slimming world and many others. Its a very supportive forum- there are weigh in which you can join so you can enter your weight loss for the week and various exercise challenges which you can join in which encourages you to build up your exercises activities and will be happy to share their own experiences when faced with cravings, plateauing, and falling of the wagon, and what techniques worked for them so give you various options to try. I very much doubt there is anyone on the forum who has not had a bad day where they have given in to their craving and ate loads of food they shouldn't- its important to look at what caused the splurge so you can try and avoid it in the future- boredom, stress - work or family, lack of family/freinds support etc.
Whatever method you use to loose weight, make sure you eat enough and don't starve yourself, since if you eat too little you end up putting on weight because your body thinkds you are beeing starved so keeps all the nutrients from what you eat and stores it as fat- I know it just seems wrong but you can put on weight when you don't eat enough and if you loose weight too quickly by eating very little , when you eat normal again the food stores it as fat for future occasions meaning you put weight on.
Good luck and I am confident you will receive a lot of support from the forum and rather than think of it as a diet think of it as new way of living healthily
Thank you for message. Looking forward to getting started and making the most of this forum
Hi Rexy 0000 many of us feel the same way. I was talking today about my different diets and like you just want to lose weight, feel healthy, and better all round and of course fit into my many clothes that I just cant throw away. I have found this site so encouraging and inspiring. You will have lots of support in all aspects of things. Looking forward to sharing your journey
Hi.thanks for message. Struggling to get started but feeling determined. Need to get out of the quick fix method and take it slow. I loose heart if weight doesn't drop off! Pamela x
Its the first step I think getting out of the 'quick fix'. I know that I wanted to lose so much quickly and went down just as fast when it didnt happen and then ate more for comfort. But since being here and reading the stories I am more determined too. Also, its the support that is so important. So I look forward to us sharing our journey together. Xxx
