Fasting?

Just wondering if any of you fast during the week & count calories the rest of the time. I would love to know how you get on?

Fasting is not good I found. It's a quick fix that your body soon rejects and, when you do eventually start eating normally, it'll take everything it gets. I ballooned up because of this.

Intermittent Fasting is a better idea, like not eating between 8pm - 11am and having low carb dinner, high (but not too high!) carb lunch. Healthy snacks, more exercise. All of these will help!

I never hit my calorie intake though, just make sure you're eating as much as you're burning day to day

That's what I've been doing. I've always dismissed intermittent fasting. I had no idea what it was, and I also had no idea that what I was doing was considered a form of fasting.

I've heard the "don't eat past 7pm!" rule for ages, and I thought it was just a good way to prevent late night binging (which I was very guilty of).

I wonder if it has always had that name. It seems to be very popular online, considering all of the YouTube videos that are in my recommendations about it.

I'm glad that it's not some crazy kind of crash diet. I was worried that these people may regain the weight. Guess I was wrong! I may watch some videos on it now.

Oh, and I never hit my calorie intake either.

However you choose to lose weight it is the overall calorie consumption that counts. Some people do very well with intermittent fasting and others prefer to spread their calories more evenly. Whichever you choose is up to you. 😊

I hope some body else can offer further advice. 😊

I did the 5:2 successfully for about three months earlier this year, and it does work, providing you don't go overboard on your non-fasting days. I found it really easy to fast - it was just a mindset for 24 hours. Apart from a few pangs which I could quell with a drink, I never thought about food for the rest of the day. But eventually I found I was so starving on the day after a fast, I struggled to eat normal sensible portions, and was actually more likely to binge than if I just restricted my calorie intake every day. So I am back to calorie counting at the moment. As Anna says, it doesn't matter quite how you do it, as ladies no as you create a calorie deficit by the end of the week! 😊

I have been very successful on the 5:2 eating plan and it has now become a way of life. I have approximately 500 calories two days each week, usually Monday and Thursday. The rest of the week I eat whatever I want and don't count calories. I have lost about 2.5 stone and am within my healthy BMI. I have found that I eat less on the non fasting days since I started this plan.
