Hi peeps. This is the very first time I've wrote this and told anyone how I really feel about my weight n health. I'm 41, 5ft 6 n weigh in at 16st 10lb. I HATE they way I look n feel, I'm tired all the time, my skins a mess, I drink to much every night and I feel old.
I've done weight watcher, slimming world, slim fast, herbal life n I'm at the point where my mind is all over with regards to diets, don't eat this, don't eat that.
Sorry to moan but I need to get my eat right xx

Hello Elaine12975 and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum
You have just taken the first step on your journey to a new, fitter, healthier you. But first you have to accept that this is life long commitment, not a diet but a compete change in lifestyle and attitude to eating.
Here are a few suggestions on how to get the most out of the forum. Please note if you are using the new HU App many of these features are not available so I suggest you use the full website version.
The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news
Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for
Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate
The forum also have group weigh-ins every day, as well as a new Daily Diary, if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page
You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you have a 'Newbie' badge. We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too. If you have any questions please just ask
Its tough I know but if we all try to help each other we might get back in touch with enjoying food and not feeling guilty when we have a treat. Besides if we're typing we won't be eating crisps andchocolate and drinking too much. Welcome to the group
Welcome to the forum
A lot of us have had similar issues with food and alcohol and tried different groups to get us awake to the fact we need to lose weight.
If you have lost weight previously there is nothing in this world that can stop you this time and its not a diet its turning around mental attitudes around food to just eating a lot healthier I found using the daily diary helped me to reboot and see what others are eating. Along with other positive challenges and doing some form of exercise get that heart pumping even if its just a lovely walk to begin with.
Its a great forum with lots of wonderful people I wish you the best of luck be involved, you have already made that first step by saying Hi x
No it's not just you, Elaine, you are in good company! I hope you get as much as I have out of this lovely group. 😊
You are far from alone! In fact you are in very good company. I too am 41 6ft 3 and currently 21st 8. I was much bigger when I started. Believe me, if I can do it you certainly can. I have a long way to go and I am expecting a plateau soon, but I feel much better. The key thing is to make sustainable changes to your lifestyle. I gave up drinking in the week, which was hard at first (I found that keeping myself busy during the evening helped), but it now feels normal. I still have a good drink on the weekend as to cut this out would not be sustainable. Why not try to change one thing at a time? I really hope that you succeed. James
