Hi shelley86

Welcome Im on my first week and I feel better already. I found apps to help me with calories and they let me know how much I've used and how much I've got left.

This group is good too people help each other.

Hello Shelley86 and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum

Here are a few suggestions on how to get the most out of the forum. Please note if you are using the new HU App many of these features are not available so I suggest you use the full website version.

The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you ☺

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news ☺

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for ☺

Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate ☺

The forum also have group weigh-ins every day, as well as a new Daily Diary, if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page ☺

You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you have a 'Newbie' badge. We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too. If you have any questions please just ask ☺

Best wishes

Anna

Hi and welcome

Try my fitness pal it's free and lots of people on here are using it

This forum is fantastic, I never completed the 12 week plan, but thanks to some great advice I'm healthy eating, having fun and for the first time I'm losing weight sensibly, enjoying myself and have the support, motivation and help needed, I've lost almost 2 stone since 're-start in January and 3 stone all together. It's definitely working

Best advice I can give is stay active on the forum, join in, ask and answer posts, try some of the challenges, but most importantly enjoy your journey

Good luck

Kat xx

Good luck with the 12 week NHS plan, it really helped me to look at food in a healthier way. I try to choose 1of my 5 a day for a snack but don't feel guilty if I slip up, which is only human. As long as you keep trying your get there, I've already reached my goal weight and am now heading for a healthy bmi. Good luck with your journey, just make sure you don't try and cheat yourself by eating too little or exercising too much. Tried that in my 3rd week, ended up a stressed mess and didn't loose any weight just kept hold of my fat. Keep an eye on the bmi calculator to make sure you get the right balance as you loose weight the calories you can have also change.

Neither did I until that frustrating week of working my hardest and gaining nothing. Thankfully someone on here suggested it to me so glad I could pass it on.
