Hi, I'm not a big person at all, but I am definitely overweight for my height. I'm quite unhealthy and inactive so just want to get back to ideal BMI before my wedding day in 5 months.

Trying to shift a little extra weight before my wedding day
Hello DaniellaNicole welcome to the forum, the NHS 12 week weight loss plan ... It's great - good luck! I find it much easier with a good motivator 👰
Hi DaniellaNicole

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.
Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.
Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.
We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

Have a good first week.

I've started on the 12 week plan today, too, so hopefully we can encourage each other!
Don't worry about being inactive as I lost 20lbs without any exercise prior to my hip replacement operation last month
I really was worried that I wouldn't lose much so Im thrilled
All the very best for your wedding how lovely xx
The 12 week NHS plan definitely helped me loose a stone since mid Jan. I am quite active but eat everything and anything. I have also been on the 5.2 diet for over 2yrs but was eating so badly on my non fasting days. Now I combine it with the 12 week plan which has improved the way I view food and exercise. Give the horizon website a view and take the diet test to find out what type of eater you are. I'm a 'constant craver' hence the 500 calories 2 x a week suggested. That way I don't have to torture myself all week with lower calories. It's certainly not for everyone and I thought it would never work for me. However, after the 1st really painful week you get use to it and not eating until late on in the day isn't so much of a chore. You don't have to skip meals but once I start eating I find it too hard to stop, so 1 500 calorie dinner works best for me. Good luck with whatever you choose, it really has to be something you can stick to. I lost a stone for my wedding but unfortunately became unmotivated the next year, hence combining 2 diets.
Thanks for this. I just took the test and I am a 'feaster'. Pretty scary! I think I eat too fast and don't fill full enough so keep eating and eating until I can't move. What's weird is I don't really snack or eat sugary things. I don't plan meals so I end up getting very unhealthy lunches and take aways for dinner, which hurts my pocket as well as my waistline. I'm hoping switching to the right type of foods and planning my meals will make a difference. I tried the 5:2 for 2 weeks and I found it such a struggle to cut the calories. I'd end up compensating the next day by eating twice as much. We'll see how this plan goes. I've stuck the chart on the fridge and I think just this in itself will help keep me on track. Fingers crossed!
😬
It certainly worked for me, just make sure you follow the calories for your BMI. I ended up doing too few and too much exercise and my body went into starvation mode. I was releasing so much cortisol stress hormone that I was so tense I could hardly breathe. Worse still I didn't loose any weight after all that hard work as your body holds on to your fat as it assumes it's in an emergency. That's when I started taking magnesium and omega 3 to reduce the cortisol release and upped my calories and it's been mostly downhill, with the weight that is ever since. I'm sure the plan will work for you and this site is such a good place for advice or just a chat to keep you motivated or commiserate with if things aren't quite going to plan. Pick a weigh in day if you haven't already it helps keep me focused as I don't want to gain to keep the groups stats down as well as my own. Also measure your waist, I've dropped 4 inches which is hugely motivating me. My dietician told me a healthy waist line is under 30cm so still a way to go yet but happy to keep trying. Again good luck I'm sure you'll look amazing on your wedding day with or without the loss.
Hi DaniellaNicole Welcome to the forum, and for giving yourself enough time to plan some weight loss so you are comfortable on your special day.
Stick with the plan and make time to plan your week's food shop and prep time along with the joy of cooking and seeing the weight drop.

Hi Minniewinny I'm ok
The last week I've been ok. I've kept on target with my calories and I've upped the exercise. I weighed in on Monday and was disappointed as I'd put back on the weight I'd lost the previous week. So I've upped the exercise a bit more. I tend to be ok with my meals during the week. The weekends are my problem. I had a sneaky weigh in this morning and I've gone back down and lost an extra 0.1 kg. My concern is for the weekend so any tips on how to stop going to the fridge and cupboard every 30 mins would be great! Thanks for the support and wishing everyone a good weekend! 😊
Great to hear from you, so glad your doing well. I would suggest you allow fluctuation of around 3-4 pounds for water.. if your eating well and increasing your exercise, you will loose weight, but being female our hormones have a lot to answer for at different times of the month, year, lifetime!!
Distraction would be to come on the forum and read, respond and enjoy... it's a great distraction from the fridge!! Can become quite addictive 😉
I started a post on distractions and have some great replies..

I hope it helps.
I’m a big believer in cutting out processed sugar ... good
Luck ... you might get some withdrawal symptoms the first week but fruit will taste lovely again if you do eat processed sugar normally ... and of course the NHS plan ;0)
Good Luck how exciting !!
