Hi February2802

Welcome to the weight loss forum.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

Rose

Hi February2802 . Welcome to the forum. I don't know anything about steroids, but I too have had an underactive thyroid, for 35 years now, and I know that if you are on the correct dose of thyroxin, with no complications, this does not cause weight gain. The prime cause of my weight gain is what I put in my mouth! or rather, how much I put in my mouth! I eat fairly healthily, it's portion control which has been my downfall. I'm not really into exercise, apart from walking the dog and Pilates for a bad back, so for me, it's all about a healthy eating regime (we don't do diets on here!)

Try downloading the NHS 12 week plan, and read up what other people think about it. You will find it works! Work out your BMI and then work out how many calories you should consume daily for a calorie deficit at the end of the week. I know calorie counting is a chore, but nothing worthwhile is achieved without a bit of effort! Gradually you should lose weight, 1-2 lb per week - may not sound much but that could be 52 - 104lb in a year!

Ask questions and be active on the forum, that's the best way to get the best out of it.

Good luck!

Ther are many is us who face additional "barriers" to our weight loss, but the great news is, as others have said, although it may require more effort, it is possible! My barriers are a physical disability that makes exercise difficult, plus being very short (4ft 9").

Here's a couple of posts I shared just after I started... it's about my journey. Hope they help!
