It is the same for me on Firepit Friday...just one more beer, here's a sausage you have done so well this week. That is the just the devil fighting with the angel on my shoulders, then the neihbours and friends kick in
Resist at all costs
Diet buddy Jan
We have been brought up to believe that feeding people shows love and eating offered food shows a return of that love. It's a societal thing that will take a while to be eradicated
Few people would deny that coming to terms with and having coping strategies for this exact situation would be the solution to all weight gain.
Right on DaySteph. You have to be true to yourself at all times, not just when turning down tasty goodies from diet-sabotagers! I find the people who are worst for egging you on to eat more are the people who need to lose some weight themselves. Frankly, they're often secretly jealous of your self discipline and delight in trying to break your diet for you. Resist!
I've found that the real struggle for me is my colleagues! We have a massive cake culture at work, birthdays, retirements, pregnancies, people leaving, people passing exams... any excuse and people will bring in cakes, sometimes this can literally be five days a week! Saying no is really difficult, especially when you have a stampede of hungry engineers asking if you're coming down to the canteen, but I'm starting to get much better (although will give in once in a while).
There was a post on here a while back asking if people completely abstained from the foodie temptations, or just modified their eating habits. It's VERY hard to say no to cake when it's in your face all the time! However, if it means you have to go to the canteen for the calorie overload it's probably easier to say NO to the 'celebratory' cake-fest!
I thought I was ok being a modifier but I'm finding I have to keep away from temptation completely as I am SUCH a cake-monster. I went into my local community market this morning for some purple sprouting broccoli and came out with a pack of home made chocolate Krispie cakes instead.......(complete with 3 mini eggs as a topping!) I have to confess I've eaten two of them already. See cakes - eat cakes. Tut tut tut.
