Hi!
Just joined up as I've put on a stone in 5 months!! Got married so blaming being happy lol.
Hello JoMo15 and welcome to the weight loss forum π
Congratulations on your recent marriage. You do right to tackle that pesky stone. π
The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you π
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news π
Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for π
Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate π
The forum also have group weigh-ins every day if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page π
You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you may have a 'Newbie' badge. If you have any questions or would like a Newbie badge please just ask π
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too π
Best wishes
Anna
Hi Anna, thank you! Im on the mobile app and struggling to find the information you've posted- do you have links for the pinned posts section and the bmi checker? I'm starting the 12 week plan tomorrow - wish me luck! jo x
Hi Jo π
I've just had a look at the app and have to say I'm not impressed!! We spend a lot of time creating events, pinned posts, topics etc and you can't see any of them if you use the app!!! π‘
Here's the link to the welcome newbies post but if you can I would use the forum on the main site rather than the app.

I'm going to pass on my findings to the other admins and see what they say.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention π
Welcome and good luck for your first week! Don't forget to measure yourself as well as weighing so that later on in your journey you can see how far you've come!
Hiya
For a simple start I really like the Myfitnesspal app - its easy to use, really quick for tracking calories, it can even convert most online recipes to calories for you.
When I first started I really like planning my day with it and tracking calories.
It also talks to fitness devices like your Fitbit to work out what calories you are using and have left.
Good luck!
P.S. Think about sad things, maybe that will help get the pounds off
Here's a question - do 'strength' minutes count towards the weekly minutes goal or is it only aerobic minutes that count towards the 150 minute goal?
