I'd like to lose a couple of stone to improve my general health and relieve my knees which are getting quite unhappy about having to drag all the extra weight around. This looks like a great place to do it.

Hi and welcome, Poppy :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Take a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.

We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)

Hi Poppy71

I have just joined too. This is a great place for motivation and the administrator is so helpful with great tips. My knees are painful too and I think if we both stick to this our knees will improve and our general health. I'm new on here and I have been motivated with the posts. Stay with it .

Hi LittleLynne

Thanks for your reply, everyone is so friendly here. I have to admit I was very dubious about doing this, I've never been part of a forum before and I have no idea about threads and tags and social media and stuff but I'm sure I will muddle through with a little help. How did you get your newbie badge?

Hello poppy71. Welcome to the forum. I know what you mean I was a bit dubious when I first started 4 weeks ago. I thought 'here I go again another diet to try!' I know my husband definitely thought that lol. But I've got to say 4 weeks in and I love it. People are genuinely nice and friendly and I feel they can relate to me and where I am on my weight loss journey. I find the forum invaluable, great for picking up ideas and generally picking me up when I'm having a bad day.
