Roller-skating

My new fitness goal is to get fit enough to join a roller derby team. My local team are holding their fresh meat training sessions now, but I haven't skated since I was about 14 so need a year to get up some confidence and fitness and apply next year.

Does anyone else skate as part of their exercise? I'm wondering what skates to get as at the moment they'd need to cope with a pretty heavy lass on them and also be comfortable as I know I won't keep at it if my feet ache.

For derby I'd need quads, but wondering if I should get inline ones to start with as they're much easier to use outside. Has anyone got any skate advice?! 😁

What an awesome way to get fit! I have no knowledge of skating but I do know as another heavy lass it's really important to be comfortable so get the best kit you can afford. Kit that you adore, makes you feel a million dollars and beckons to you :)

I haven't done any skating since I was a kid and those skates were just bits of metal that you tied onto your shoes! I used to love it though! :)

Best of luck to you and please let us know how you get on :)
