Introducing myself

Hi,

I am new here and have decided to introduce myself on this forum. I have just downloaded and printed out the first week of the NHS weight loss plan and checked my BMI. I have found out that a pretty healthy weight for my height is 9.5 stone so that's what I am striving for in the next 12 weeks. I don't want to lose weight for aesthetic reasons or to look a certain way, it is more because I am worried about my health (I have a family history of heart problems, diabetes and high blood pressure).

So that's a little bit about me really :)

Hi Hidden and welcome to the forum.

Check out the Welcome Newbies post in the pinned posts section (to the right of your screen on a pc, bottom on a mobile) - this contains some great info for starting out and navigating your way around the site. I can see you have worked out your BMI and you're starting the 12 week plan, which is great! Don't forget to sign up for the weekly emails.

Take all of your before measurements and maybe a photo.

We run weigh-ins every day and consider joining some of our challenges as they are fun and motivating.

We also give out weight loss badges and you are welcome to have a Newbie one for the first 12 weeks of your journey if you would like one?

Best of luck and I look forward to seeing you around ☘

Welcome Hidden dont look at this as though you have to complete it within 12 wks. That is just the time it takes to show and introduce you to some healthier options. You can take as long as you wish with this site as we are all here to lose weight and give advice with each other. Also, it may be better for you to look at this as a lifestyle change rather than a diet if you also want to keep the weight off forever, otherwise it may keep coming and going. I see it this way, because I know that by the time I reach my target weight I will be so used to certain styles and smaller portions I will struggle to go back. It didn't take me long when I was altering sugars to sweeteners to hate sugar. I once tried to put a sugar in my tea when I was out because I didn't have any sweeteners with me and there wasn't anyway I couldn't even finish the tea. I found it disgusting! Seeing as though I only used 1 and I used to have 2 in a tea I was quite shocked. I do now only have 1 sweetener instead though. When I did this years ago I did lose 3 stone so this may also help for you if you use any in drinks or cereals. Do make sure you eat enough calories as advised on your bmi index too. I never used to eat enough and struggled all the time to lose weight. I was advised on here to eat more as not eating enough makes your body believe you are making it starve so it turns it into body fat instead. This is heavier so you always put on weight instead. I now eat more and am finally losing weight. I can't believe it.!👏🎉😜
