Patrick, you have come to the right place for help! Firstly read the pinned posts for Newbies. Then if you have any questions, there are literally hundreds if not thousands of people on this forum who are at various stages of their journeys towards a healthy weight, who will be able to offer you advice. Welcome! 😊
Hi Patrick, welcome to the forum and you're making a start which is the hardest thing to do for all of us. If you haven't done so already, I would suggest you check out the Welcome Newbie thread on the Pinned Posts section on the right of the screen and there is a Monday weigh in if you would like to join us in the Events Section, also on the bottom right of the screen. The best place to start for me was the NHS 12 week plan which you can find online and also the NHS BMI calculator to give you a calorie range for your activity level - you can eat more than you think and still lose weight! Basically the trick seems to be to make small changes that you can sustain rather than trying to do it all at once and it's pretty much turned things around for me.
Good luck x
Welcome to the forum, Patrick. As the others have said you'll find lots of support here. Set small achievable goals and reward yourself when you reach them( not chocolate of course) and you'll soon see the pounds drop off. It took me several weeks to see any loss but the support here meant I stuck with it and have now lost 1.5 stones. Good luck.
Hi, I'm new, too (63 soon and need to lose at least 2 stone) - so let's make it happen together. My big downfall is wine - so I am starting with a dry January and see how I go from there. Here's to an enjoyable and successful 2017!
