Hoping this is doable.. must be around 2lbs each week which seems ok. Still i'm feeling very stressed lol. Starting the gym this week - have been looking around at the types of things to do at the gym as I need a proper plan that I can stick to and that will work if anybody has any ideas.

4 stone in 7 months????
Hello Tasha12345 and welcome to the forum 😃 please don't feel stressed this is a very friendly and supportive place to be 😃 I think the best piece of advice I received on here was that it's best to set small mini goals. Thinking about total weight loss can be very overwhelming. Think 1 lb at a time after all any loss adds to a downward trend which is good. Sometimes putting a time limit can be more stressful and if you hit a plateau can lead to feelings of failure and then giving up. Read the welcome newbies post on the pinned posts on the right-hand side of the screen.. it gives lots of helpful information about how to use the site and links to thE Nhs 12,week plan which many of us use with great success. I wish you luck and determination😃
Hi Tasha12345
Welcome and well done for getting started! The gym is great. Generally the trainers will advise you and are keen to be helpful; important thing (for me anyway) was to start doing something.
I started with walking (treadmill or outside) - I tried to make sure I got up a sweat for ten minutes or so. I also swam though I haven't been for a while now. I did some machines to try to build strength. There are lots of ways to do this outside the gym too.
All best wishes
Hi Tasha and welcome. I'm not much of a gym person myself, so can't help you with that. But in terms of a great weight loss plan, I suggest you take a look at the NHS 12 week plan. I followed it and lost 14 kg (2.2 stones). In the beginning - and maybe until you reach a healthy BMI - you will probably lose more than a pound a week, but as you grow smaller, so will your weight loss rate. But take it one step at the time, just like the 12 week plan suggests.
Good luck!
I would definitely recommend you do the 12 week plan. How about breaking the 4 stone down in more sizeable chunks and then you won't so stressed about the task ahead of you?
Good luck and look forward to hearing about your progress
I started at the gym a couple of months ago and really enjoy going. I mainly go swimming but also do zumba, kettlebells & pilates so maybe try out a few classes to see what you like doing. I'm going to try a spinning class on Sunday for the 1st time to see what that is like. Twice a week I also do weights as well but you should be able to get a personalised plan at your gym with your abilities planned for you.
Good luck and enjoy it.
Hi Tasha12345
Welcome to the forum, I hope you really like it here. Losing 4 stone in 7 months is definitely doable! However, there will be times when you may maintain or even have a slight gain, especially if you're attending the gym...I always notice that the day after a big gym session I am slightly heavier as my muscles store more fluid to aid in repairing damaged cells. All this is very normal. Just stick with it. I know having a time frame can be stressful but it can also be a motivator, it all depends on you and how you cope with the hurdles that will be there. Losing weight is like a roller coaster but if you learn to enjoy the ride you can do it!
All the best! ♥

Aww guys!! These comments have made me feel much better already! So I'm going to break it down I think is the best idea. Seems I should also definitely do the 12 week NHS plan. Today is the day, thanks for all your support xxxx
