The Fitbit charge is good because it records heart rate and synchs to your phone so you see your active minutes. It also record the exact hours in a day when you have done 250 steps + which is really useful for seeing that you are moving enough over while day. You can make it vibrate with a silent alarm to remind you to move off the sofa. I have had one for a couple of years now and it is much better than the basic one which doesn't show so much info on screen or phone. It has a proper watch strap unlike the cheaper model which had a magnet to close it, I didn't find this fitted well. Hope this helps

Anytime, good luck. There is a small group of people on here doing challenges with one but I haven't joined that as I already do one with some people I know locally.

I've been told of an app which notes your steps with your Facebook friends to set challenges which I thought was a good idea

I have the Fitbit Flex. I have worn this since May. Had a Nike Fuelband before and I find this much better. I simply wouldn't be without it. It is a great incentive.

I've got a charge, but it's the old one. I bought it deliberately as it was cheaper, only £90. I'd been thinking about it for a year but finally did it in October. It's really kept me on track. I can see my heart rate (although not as accurate when running), my sleep, my overall calorie burn and you can join in challenges. I'd been losing weight anyway, but I've lost 12lbs since I got it.

I have a garmin vivofit which I have owned for 1 1/2 years now.

It displays the all on the actual band, so you you don't have to use a pc or phone, but you can connect it if you want.

HR monitor is optional, and the vivofit 1 on Amaon isn't too expensive.

No need to charge, batteries last over a year and I use mine every day 🙂
