It's day 3. Why fail spectacularly on day 3?

This morning I ate 3 topic bars
It's day 3! And you're just getting used to a new way of eating/living It's going to take a little bit of time, with a few hiccups along the way.
The most important thing is delete the word 'fail' from your dictionary! You haven't failed. It's one bump in one week The worst thing you can do is have the mind set of "I ate those three topic bars, I've failed and may as well eat a whole load of other bad stuff". This is what causes the problem it's okay to have a hiccup and make a mistake - but don't let it ruin the rest of your week Just shrug it off, have a think about why you ate them and try to avoid it in future.
It's scary changing your eating habits, so you're bound to slip up every now and then, but once you start to see the benefit of it it'll get easier and easier to convince yourself to have only one topic bar, and then none at all unless it's a treat
Don't beat yourself up - did your first two days go well? Try to make sure the rest of day three goes well despite the chocolate! You can do it!
I agree totally with Hidden - great advice!
I struggled a lot for the first couple of weeks to get used to reduced portion sizes and not just grabbing a tasty snack whenever I wanted one. It was VERY hard work (and I failed spectacularly quite a few times!), but if you can stick with it you'll get used to it, and it WILL become easier!
I also found that planning my food in advance for the next day helps a lot. I use MyFitnessPal and I start with the meal I have least control over (normally dinner, as I'm often eating with my other half) and put in everything for that meal. Then I plan my other meals, and also input snacks (for me this is usually a banana and/or apple - sometimes with a bit of peanut butter - a couple of cups of tea and coffee, and my bed time treat of a Freddo!). I could then make sure my day was all planned out, knowing what I was eating when. I'd quite often plan a whole week in advance if I could, so I knew I had the right food in the house.
This makes it easier (for me, anyway!) to ensure I'm eating enough to stay full without going over my allowance. It also means if I have a blip through the day (it happens to us all!!) I can see what I can adjust later on. The bedtime Freddo is always a spare 95cal I can lose (noooooooo!), or I can reduce my portion of pasta/rice/chips etc in the evening.
Good luck with it all - make sure the changes you're making are ones you'll want to stick with after the 12 weeks (albeit a bit less strictly!), as it really is a lifestyle change for the better. I like the NHS plan because you DON'T have to deprive yourself of the things you really like, you just have to think about them a bit more!
You can do it!
I totally agree with Kinbin. we all have hiccups along the way and there's no need worrying, tomorrows another day.
Give it time and before long you'll be stood in the store looking at the chocolates/biscuits etc., deciding what to have, and think why am I here I don't want/need these. Trust me, I know 'cos that was me this morning.
Heya, great advice from kinbun there, can't add much except to say it's about persistence not perfection. Doesn't matter if you slip up, just keep going. 🙂
It might be because, only being 3 days in, you're battling a sugar addiction! I can see now that I was, I used to plan everything around my sugar fixes and when I first started (7 weeks ago) I felt so sluggish and actually ill too- all withdrawal probably! Don't worry about it at all now, you can't change the past, but when you realise you may be battling an addiction then you might go a little easier on yourself you'll get there!
Thank you all! 1 step at a time, right? I did go out for a lunchtime walk which was very lovely and your messages helped so much xxx
Was it a multipack? Cannot have any multipacks at home except for baby wet wipes
You are so right! Thank you all.
I did have a lighter evening meal and didn't snack in the evening. Feeling much better today. The sabotaging alter-ego is switched off!x
I find that I always do well during the week and then crash and burn at the weekends.
Drink, socialising, chocolate (while watching movies on tv). But I am now starting to recognise the triggers and try and avoid what sets me off. I keep my fingers busy now if I'm watching tv - a bit of knitting or crochet keeps your mind more occupied and you're less likely to reach for the biscuits or chocolate.
Don't beat yourself up - you know you can do it. Take it one day at a time and you will get there.
Good luck.
