Having a rethink about various things and the number of calories I should be consuming is confusing me.
Could someone with more nodle than me check this for me please.
NHS site says I should be having between 1361 - 1750 per day.
MFP says I should be having 1200 per day.
I'm thinking 1200 should be ok but is this two few? I don't want to go into starvation mode again but also don't want to eat to much obviously. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

What activity level did you put in on NHS site - it makes a difference like. ☺

The middle one as I'm doing more exercise now. I'll check MFP app but I'm sure I changed my activity level on that too. X thank you x
MFP is okay, but you know you can adjust those numbers on the app. If you go to settings and set it for somewhere near the middle of the range that the NHS BMI site suggested, you can see how it goes for a week or two, then modify calories accordingly to give the desired steady rate of weight loss/ Maintainance.
It took me a while to come to the realisation that this process is part of a lifestyle, so I am trying hard not not worry about short term, and focus on achieving a long term positive outcome. Doing this helps me to stress less about every meal and every calorie, hopefully this reduces my cortisol, so my body is less likely to go into starvation mode 🤐
Hi Bobbivee, I would go with what the NHS site says, 1200 is way too low. I never go below 1500 even now, with just one stone to go. I started trying to eat 1400 calories and nearly gave up in despair, until Moreless pointed out to me that I should be eating more according to the NHS calculator and once I upped my calories I felt much better and the weight loss has been consistent.
You will have to adjust it down as your weight goes down, but only a smidge!
I hope that helps, if you want to read more, I did write a post about eating more to lose more, here:
Thanks. I did read your post and that's why I thought I may be eating the wrong amount. I used to struggle to eat about 500 so I'm getting better. I will up it to 1361 and see how it goes. Thank you.
Hi Hidden 😀 everyone is different and sometimes it's a bit of trial and error. I would aim for 1400 (mid range) for a few weeks and see how that goes. You can then tweek it if necessary xx good luck 💖
I think go off the nhs one, but then adjust it if you are not losing, or you are too hungry. I started off on the lower end of the nhs recommendation, but now i am eating at the top end of it, as i was too hungry. Im losing 2lbs a week which im ok with, but i guess ill have to reduce my cals at some point once i lose a stone or two. Xx
