I've just joined this website and just started the 12-wk plan. Its taking a bit getting used to the calorie counting and trying to eat healthily with reduced portions. Started yesterday and was doing well until after dinner when my eyes fell on my son's chocolate Petite Filous...and ended up eating 3 of them!!! This tipped me over my calorie intake (which for my BMI etc is 1300-1700) to a total of 1862!
I've decided to start at 1700 and gradually reduce down to 1400. As I've never calorie counted (CC) ever I wanted to see what 1 day's eating would calculate to. I wanted to see whether anyone actually started on the 1400 (for females) or whether anyone has started on what the website calculates depending on your BMI etc.
I'm also exercising (a mixture of cardio intervals, strength and core) and trying to increase going to the gym from 2 to 3 sessions per wk. But I think my diet is really bad and this frequently lets me down. I like to eat junk esp when hungry or stressed or tired. I have a 3 yr son who doesn't eat much (I cook food for him but my husband & I eat something different after our son goes to bed) and trying to cook for my husband and me always feels like a chore and I run out of ideas to cook. We also love our red meat and takeaway which I'll (we'll) have to majorly cut down.
Anyway I won't ramble on and on. I am excited to try this new plan (I once did weight watchers many many yrs ago but that didn't last) and its great to have this forum and network of others doing the same. I know the website states that 0.5-1Kg would be lost per wk...I wanted to know how accurate/realisitc that is???
Looking forward to catching up with your all!

I'm quite similar to you in that I love me some junk food and I have a hubby that often wants pizza after a hard day at work so what I've done is started making my own pizza pockets using lighter fat cheese, pitta bread, chicken breast, pepperami, bbq sauce and half a green pepper. He still gets something that resembles pizza, I get to feel like I've eaten junk food and it all comes in at 669 calories for 2 of them rather than the whopping 1680 a Domino's medium pepperoni contains ... which we would have eaten each along with wedges for me and garlic bread for him! When I read that back there is no wonder I'm the size that I am!
I'm only on day 3 so can't comment on how much you can lose but I'm hoping it's doable lol. I have been counting and I'm around the 1500 mark each day for calorie intake so far so we shall see...
You are not alone in being tempted by children's leftovers . . . You need a will of iron!! Lol 😊
You are sensible to aim at the higher end of the target calories, i think most of us want to lose weight eating as much as possible 😊 Learning how to eat enough to not be hungry but get a good balance of nutrients and treats takes a bit of practice but you will get there, but don't despair if you have the odd slip up (or 3 petit filou!) 😊
This is a great forum with lots of fun friendly people 😊 Just be kind to yourself, and remember the longer you stick to plan the easier it gets 😊 It's good your hubby is on board, but you need treats too, you could save up calories and plan a few extras at weekends 😊
Good luck 😊
Ps I lost about 1lb a week but over the last 13 months I'm almost 3 stone off, but I've had a few hic cups!!
Take a look at the Pinned Posts section, to the right of your screen (bottom, if you're using a mobile) and have a look at the Welcome Newbies thread, it has a link to the NHS 12 week plan, which is a guide to healthy living, rather that a specific diet plan.
Look at the Topics section beneath that, for posts that could answer any questions you may have.

Welcome! You're sounding very motivated and enthusiastic, and that's a great way to be - good luck! Hope you really enjoy the forum, and get a lot out of it.
Do have a look at our recipe collation post - I might pop back with the link for you.
Wow it really is motivational just to see that I have some replies already! :)) And its soo lovely to see just enthusiasm from people who genuinely care.
Thanks Geekydee for your tips on the pizza...actually I used to do something similar with mini naan breads...will restart doing them. Good luck with your journey on this course.
Hey Anna61. I agrees it will take me home practise with knowing which food types will keep my hunger at bay. Today hasn't been so bad (still have dinner to eat....but def NO petit files! ). I went to the gym today and had lunch, but I was starving by late pm...had a couple of small HEALTHY snacks this time. Congratulations on your topping 3 stone loss!!! that's so amazing.
I wonder if anyone else feels the hunger when doing this. As I'm starting on the 1700 calories daily I'm wondering whether I'll be more hungry once I start dropping the calorie mark, or whether my body will start adapting...
Anyways I am looking forward to it...that's the main thing.
