Hi like they say, age is just a number so is weight. I was 17.1 on 19th may when I started, so you have braved the scales that Is the highest number you will ever be because it's not where you start its where you finish. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Good Luck for next weeks weigh in, numbers going down!!!!!👍😊

It's only a number and now you own it, rather than it owning you! It's all downhill from here :)

Thanks loves! This last week I have not had any junk food at all, no crisps, no cake. I am starting to weigh things out, and keeping an eye on calories, trying to 'budget' for foods I like and want to include. I have been feeling hunger pangs on occasion which I take as a good sign I am not overeating! Feeling positive!

Good for you Ruby! Just don't be tempted to undereat either! :)

Don't worry I know the dangers of that! In fact if I feel hungry I have some yoghurt or something, I don't let myself go hungry for long. It's just that normally my body rarely gets the chance to be hungry!

Well at least now you have a really accurate starting point and you can see your weight loss. Numbers are brutal but they are just numbers. I love moreless 's comment that you own those numbers not vice versa. Good luck. Xx

I have to admit to having stolen those words from the lovely Prin , because I thought they were great too! :)

Well done for braving the scales in the first place! My tipping point came when after avoiding them for months, I stepped on mine to see the ominous OL (overloaded! May as well have shouted, 'Omg you fat lump, get off!..lol). That meant I was at least 23st... :( .... I Didn't wait, started from that moment, counting calories, eating more fruit and especially veg, cutting drastically down on sugar and being as active as my other health problems allow. Since June 1st have lost at least 30lbs and now weigh 20st 12lbs. Tons to go, but already feeling the benefits.

You can do this, this forum is fab for inspiration and support. Don't let the numbers scare you, use them just as a guide, Aim more for feeling better, more energised, more positive in general and how your clothes feel. It is a long, long process so be patient and make sure you enjoy the food you eat..I wish you all the very best in finding the 'new you' and look forward to reading about your progress. Good Luck!

Wow you have done SO well you are brilliant 🎉👍🏻🍾🎉👍🏻

It's a shame the scales don't shout at us when we first get on them then encourage and praise us as we lose

An idea for Dragons Den ?? 😀

Keep going, with your attitude it's not going to be long before you reach your goal 💕

Ooh yes imagine that 😊

I always remember when I was a little girl we were on holiday at the seaside and my mum weighed herself in public She had to sit on this swing type thing and as she got on the man said "One at a time please "

Luckily my mum thought it was funny but I know I'd cry 😀😀😀

You will get there I'm sure you are so determined and there are the kindest people on this forum who really care about each other

💕💕💕

Hi Ruby8

I used to dream of weighing that much. I topped over 25st before I decided enough was enough. I was that big that I had my own gravity.....

Best thing now is to put the scales away. No one can tell you how to lose weight. You already know that. Eat less, move more does work but, and its a big but, if you don't find out why you overeat in the first place and deal with that specific problem, then the chances are that you will go back to type once you have lost your weight and start to relax.

Losing a loved one is hard thing to come to terms with and going to see a bereavement counsellor would be the best option I think to try and help you and your head come to terms with that. You can lose weight while doing this as it's a combined effort.....

Good luck and stay positive.

Thank you dadtoad, I have put the scales in a cupboard, as I agree I don't want to be checking every minute. I want this to be un-diet like, if possible. I'm not telling anyone I'm 'on a diet'. I think once you have brought yourself up to speed on calories in the main foods you eat, you can be more intuitive about things.

Btw I think you have muddled me with someone as I haven't been bereaved lately!

Cheers! :-)
