I don't think folks who don't have to worry about their weight realise what a battle it truly is to stay on top of everything. When you start it's a complete change and you have to fight those cravings for the first week or two. That's not easy but once you come through that it gets easier. The next thing I guess is those hungry days. They come without warning and no matter what you do, you're still hungry. These are designed to test your resolve but you can make healthier choices such as fruit, veg and extra fibre. One of my problems as a food addict is that I find it difficult to recognise when I'm full. I saw a programme on tv last Wednesday about baby rhinos. They were getting fed huge big bottles of milk but once the bottle was finished they were crying uncontrollably for 30 minutes because the milk took so long to reach their stomachs and they didn't realise that they were full. I think I may have been a Rhino in a previous life. That would explain it. Tough skin but a gentle giant at heart.
The strangest thing for me is the feeling of fat days and thin days. For instance at the moment I've almost lost 3 stone but some days my clothes feel really loose and other days they feel tight. Some days I have energy and other days I'm a bit lethargic. Again another wee test just to see how serious I am. For me it's just a case of head down and battling on. I'm fortunate that I've done this before so I know that it takes a while for me to notice any visible difference even although reducing clothes sizes mean that things are happening in the smaller trousers department . Last time I think it took me to lose 8 stone before I saw any physical difference. Of course colleagues notice and compliment you which is always nice but it's better to see and feel changes yourself.
So ultimately it's a case of staying strong and having belief that in time you will reach your goal. You don't get anything for free. Your body has been used to being this size and it's not wanting to give up this look easily. Keep going, don't lose heart, keep fighting. The battle will be worth it. Never give up. Have a good week folks.
