Sick and tired
Hi claireami2912. I think you have found the right place to help you. This forum is great and has helped me no end. Zest who usually welcomes people is on holiday at the moment but she gives you the link to the Monday weigh in and the NHS 12 week plan. If you look to the right of here at the pinned posts and go onto Welcome Newbies I think the information is there. I just wanted to say that I am the same as you and needed to be able to cook for my family and eat the same as I cannot deal with cooking different meals. I have done this for the last 5 months and have lost just under 2 stone. So it can be done. The biggest thing is portion control. I have to weigh out my portions and although it does look a little less than everyone else I usually go for extra vegetables and more protein with less carbs and it fits in with my calorie allowance just fine. It does take a few weeks to get used to it but if you are like me and cook similar dinners then once you have worked out your calories per weight portion per meal then you have it for future reference and it is a lot quicker. I may have swapped a few things like buying 'boodles' which are butternut squash noodles instead of spaghetti with spaghetti bolognese. I would also roast butternut squash to have instead of roast potatoes. It just reduces your calories in one meal and gives you more to have for the rest of the day. Work out your calorie allowance, using the link from the newbie post, for the day and if you are not able to exercise your calorie allowance will be a bit lower but you should still be able to lose weight. I have found it has to be a lifestyle change that you can live with forever and not a diet. It's why we put the weight back on again as although 'diets' work they are not a longterm solution. Best of luck to you and hope you can join in with the Monday weigh in as all the people are lovely and supportive and you never feel like you are doing this alone
What sort of things do you feed your family as weight loss has a lot to do with what we eat. I used to have the same problem so I started looking for leaner cuts of meat having less of it and having loads of extra veg I also used to drink large quantities of water before I ate that helped to and trying to reduce the amount of carbs you eat may help . It's a case of trial and error it takes a while to figure out what works for you
But don't give up you'll get there we all will .
Good luck 😀
My hubby is african so I cook alot of rice and curry based dishes. We have spaghetti bol. Grilled fish and vedg. For tea we eat very well but I don't have breakfast and I can easily last till 5pm with just drinking but I'm addicted to fizzy which isn't good... I will snack all day of leftover bits then I tend to binge. I had a baby 17 weeks ago and I'm breastfeeding also so I do try and snack on fruit and things . 😑
Have you tried using quarn mince and stuff it's a good alternative to meat and has less fat and is a good source of protein I use it all the time and I like spicy food so it tastes just as good to me also you can buy spaghetti alternatives I don't actually like them so I just don't have it i think in some places you can buy rice alternatives I saw it in a shop but witch one it was escapes me
I'm also bad with fizzy drinks although I do have the no sugar ones and I try to drink lots of water as well hope this helps 😀
Thank u I will try that next week xx
Congratulations on the birth of your baby 😊
You've already been given some good advice above, but a tip from me is when ?I cook curries and bolognese I bulk it out by adding grated carrot and courgette and adding extra veg, maybe broccoli or green beans, it instantly reduces the calories in a portion and makes it healthy too. Eating off a pretty, smaller plate helps too, there's no need to cook yourself different meals, just tweak things a bit. There's a link here for recipes, 'normal' meals but made a bit healthier

Hello claireami2912
I don't have anything to add to the excellent advice already given, just want to wish you well and reassure you that you can lose weight without massive amounts of exercise 😊 Yes it helps, but its more about what you eat.
If you can I would try to spread the calories out throughout the day, going all day doesn't help 😕 since I stopped evening snacking and introduced a (very gentle) 20-30 minute morning exercise routine I find I am hungry and ready for breakfast 😊 And I still want lunch!!! Lol 😊
With regards to fizzy drinks, i stopped Diet Coke as it was affecting my taste buds, making me want sweet things 😕 Especially in the evenings 😕 It was difficult but has really helped 😊
Good luck, enjoy your new baby, be kind to yourself, your body will take time to return to normal, and keep us posted! 😊
It has all been said.

Hi and welcome 👍
First of all, don't think of it as a diet. It's a change of lifestyle. I've done diets in the past and failed. This time I said i was changing my lifestyle and I have lost 85lbs out of 110lbs or so to lose. Yes I have odd days where I eat like I used to but its jet one day and I am in complete control.
Its a change of mind and you can do it! Just take one day at a time and you will get there.
