Sugar crash rollercoaster

I appear to be on a rollercoaster of sugar crashes, in turn making me hungry quite intensely, got example I had eaten an apple and half hour or less felt absolutely starving, and I feel the same with most things I eat, I eat satsumas, apples, yogurt, low fat crisps, sandwiches, low fat foods hoe can I change my diet to change this?

I need to cut carbs?

now, I really am confused, they are saying a breakfast of bacon, egg and toms and coffee is better for you than porridge and a cup of tea ? and also fruit and veg should be less than 130g a day? And counting calories is useless? Have I misread it, or is everything I understood to be correct is wrong?

I see what you mean now Caz28, we were just talking about that report, good that Hidden has also flagged it up. But there is definitely a lot of controversy about it.

Hi Pheonixjo,

Maybe have a look at this link to see if any of the snack choices might give you a few ideas to try?

nhs.uk/Livewell/loseweight/...

Personally I would have sliced apple with some peanut butter for example - or fruit with a few nuts, and then you are relatively satiated with that kind of combination?

Just see if anything appeals. Try different things and see what works for you.

Hello PheonixJo

Whilst I find it difficult to go as low as 130g carbs I do find protein helps keep me full for longer, ie egg for breakfast, (with wholemeal toast) then nuts/lentils/hummus for lunch 😊

Having made a concerted effort to reduce sugar in my diet I find that together with eating regularly I have mostly emiminated sweet cravings 😊

Good luck 😊

I find if I eat better and more protein for my 3 main meals a day, I don't need snacks. Eg porridge for breakfast, salmon or egg or bean salad for lunch, that keeps me going til tea time. Almonds is a good snack, or I make tea loaf or banana bread which are also filling. I try and avoid 'empty' cals like crisps. That works for me, so maybe look at your food diary and see if you can tweak your plan.
