Hi all, signed up ready to go, read through posts getting up to speed. Then a spanner in the works appeared. I have just found out I am 5 weeks pregnant! So now I need help. I still want to change my diet and lose weight but obviously how to do that without depriving my new baby?

Ahh congratulations that's wonderful news.wishing you a very healthy and happy pregnancy
Why don't you just follow a balanced eating plan and sign up for exercise specific to pregnant women
The main thing is that you are well and have a healthy little bundle
Read up on it, changing your diet for the better, whilst cutting out the crap will help, I ate masses of fruit and veg ( my craving) with one of my sons.
I'm sure there is lots of help, a midwife will help too, explain your situation, I expect you will find yourself lighter after pregnancy than now, take it easy fir now and relax
Hi TabbyG
Healthy eating and exercise is fine and safe in pregnancy, don't worry. The usual advice is any level of exercise you were doing pre-pregnancy is safe to continue, and if you weren't then taking up walking or jogging or something like swimming is very good for you. Just be sensitive to your body's needs as they will change - nasea etc.
Diet wise, again, the general advice applies. Maybe focus less on calorie restriction and more on healthy eating choices such as fruit and veg and brown rice/pasta etc. Depending on your starting weight and BMI depends on weight loss etc but usually if you are overweight then if you aim to stay the same weight throughout then that is safe and you will have lost body fat weight and just gained a baby.
Hope that helps. Speak to your midwife at your first appt too.

Whoop whoop 😊🎉💕 congratulations 😊 I don't have any advice but having gained weight with each of my three children I wish now I had taken better care of my self 😕 The youngest is 21 so it has taken me a while !!! Lol 😂
What fantastic news Tabby, I'm delighted for you!
You've had the best advise possible from a registered midwife, so I have nothing to add, except don't do what I did and gain 4.5st!!
Have a happy, healthy pregnancy and I look forward to following your progress
