Hi and welcome Suse
Join the club, I think we can probably all confess to the same thing, but joining us here will see an end to that behaviour
Have a look at our welcome newbies thread, which is full of handy hints to get you started. It can be found in the Pinned Posts section, to the right of your screen, along with several challenges that are designed to be motivating and fun
I'd like to invite you along to our monday group weigh-in too, which is really friendly, non-judgemental and supportive. You may join today, if you wish, or you can wait for Lowcal to post the new thread on monday morning. This is the link to last monday's, for you to have a read

Hoping to see lots of you on the forum and wishing you all the best
No need to stop eating! Just change what you eat and maybe when you eat it? Spread the treats over a longer period of time. Cook using low fat and low sugar recipes. Keep yourself busy with other interests so boredom and depression are not driving you to the cake tin. Chat with other like-minded people - they can be very encouraging here on this forum.
Thank you both, I will check out the pinned posts and join the weigh in 😁
Of course you can't stop eating! Our brains are hot-wired to make us crave food for comfort whenever we are tired, cold, stressed, unhappy etc etc
You have to convince yourself that YOU are in charge not your brain. I carefully weigh portions and count calories on a generous eating plan that includes all my favourites bread, cheese (gin!) etc as life is too short to not enjoy these wonderful pleasures, BUT for long term health and fitness I cannot eat too much of them.
Very best wishes 😊 You CAN do this. Lots of people do, check out some of the inspiring stories on here as proof! 😊
When I started this 9 weeks ago my weight had increased by half a stone just since Christmas, I just wanted to eat all the time to. One day I decided I needed to take control of myself and I new that I needed to change for my health mainly. It was hard for the first couple of weeks but when u have an actual number like a calorie allowance to stick to you can control your eating easier. I still have a snack if I want one but they are within my allowance and are usually fruit or rice cakes (like caramel ones and only 51 cals). This forum is fantastic and keeps me on track. You are not alone, you can do this, you just need to take that first step and stick with it. Best of luck SuseWild 😊
Thank you, I am hoping this site is going to be the thing that keeps me going this time.
